‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ to Come Out After Rockstar Games Releases the Remastered Version of Red Dead Redemption

It has been rumored since last year that the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” will come out on the gaming consoles and the PC this year.

It was even mentioned that the game would be launched by American game developer Rockstar Games during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held in Los Angeles, California in June but that did not happen.

The alleged reason of Rockstar for not releasing the game back then has something to do with the Orlando shooting incident because a scene in “Red Dead Redemption 2” actually resembles what happened on that fateful night causing the death of more than 50 and injuring more than 50 as well.

It was subsequently speculated that the game would come out during the Gamescom 2016 in August at Cologne, Germany but that also did not happen.

Latest reports have it that the game would no longer come out this year as Rockstar Games would be releasing first the remastered version of “Red Dead Redemption” on the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and the PC in the first half of 2017, details Game & Guide.

Subsequently, “Red Dead Redemption 2” would come out after the remastered version of the original game comes out. Thus, it is likely that the game would be released in the second half of next year.

Coming with a new PS4 variant

Reports are also saying that when the remastered version of the game comes out in the first half of next year, it will also be launched alongside a new model of the PlayStation 4, which according to insiders could either be the PS4 Slim or the PS4 Neo.

There are also rumors saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” can only be played exclusively on the PlayStation 4 Neo but it seems unlikely since the first game came out on both the Sony and the Microsoft gaming consoles as well as the PC.

For its part, Sony also clarified that there will be no video game that should come out as exclusively playable on the PlayStation 4 Neo because it limits the playability of the game apart from disappointing other gamers who do not own the particular gaming platform.

Rockstar Games has yet to come out with an official statement or announcement regarding the exact release date of “Red Dead Redemption 2” or the remastered version of “Red Dead Redemption” so every information should be taken with a fine grain of salt.

The death of the West

The theme of “Red Dead Redemption” was the death of the West featuring outlaw John Marston. But his tale was such an all-encompassing checklist of every major cowboy trope that it is really hard to know where a sequel could go.

It could possibly feature high noon duels, stagecoach robberies, cattle-herding, skinning buffalo, but more importantly is the possibility of capturing the post-modern Western theme that would show that gamers need no swinging saloon doors to capture the genre’s doomed romanticism, details Games Radar.

But if the map leak of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is to be believed, the presence of an area called Heartland Oil Fields may point to a ‘There Will Be Blood’ style story. And it is likely that John Marston is no longer there but his descendant.

Red Dead Redemption 2

What seems consistent with the rumors about the game is that it shall have an official title of “Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West” when it finally comes out on the gaming consoles.

It also appears clear that Rockstar Games is indeed working on the development of the game at the moment, which the company started doing four years ago.

Now that Rockstar has completed work on updates to “GTA V” as well as the multiplayer “GTA Online,” it certainly has the time to focus on “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
