‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 to Show and Explore the Co-Existence Between Humans and the Abbies!

During the Season 2 of the American psychological thriller drama TV series “Wayward Pines” on Fox, the clash between the humans and the Aberrations, or simply called as the Abbies, became the focal point of the show.

The battle to extinction seems unsettled during the Season 2 finale, which is why reports have it that the upcoming Season 3 of “Wayward Pines” shall focus and explore the co-existence between the humans and the Abbies.

Instead of focusing on killing each other, Season 3 shall focus on the consensus between humans and the Abbies as well as the exploration of human behavior amid extinction, reports Yibada.

In order for the show to do it, there will be one thousand years of a time jump from the Season 2 finale to Season 3 but details remain scarce at the moment.

Fans and critics are also wondering how the co-existence between the humans and the Abbies one thousand years later would happen when back in Season 2, they were wiping each other out from the face of the earth.

A finishing touch

Reports have it that the co-existence plotline is going to be the finishing touch of producer M. Night Shyamalan to make Season 3 of “Wayward Pines” as the final and conclusive one for the TV series.

The Season 2 of the TV series ended in a cliffhanger because it left the fans guessing on which side became victorious in the battle between humans and the Abbies.

It can be recalled that the final scene of the TV series showed a human baby clutching on what looks like a finger of an Abbies, which led to speculations saying that it was the humans who won the battle. Some others are saying that the baby is an Abbies and it will be the key to their triumph over humankind.

However, there were also rumors that the baby was neither human nor Abbies but a new breed of species which will lead to the reconciliation of humans with Abbies.

If “Wayward Pines” would have a thousand year of time jump, it would be foolhardy to think that the humans and the Abbies are still fighting by then. The bigger plotline would be how the humans and the Abbies come to settle their differences after the Season 2 finale and how they will harmoniously co-exist in Season 3.

Critics are sure that whatever the show’s plotline would be for Season 3, the TV series is bound to bring in new characters and give the storyline more twists the way the showrunners are doing for “Wayward Pines.”

Reports also have it that the two main characters during Season 2 of “Wayward Pines” shall meet their demise in Season 3, particularly Dr. Theo Yedlin, played by Jason Patric, and CJ Mitchum, played by Djimon Hounsou, who incidentally played great parts in saving humanity from the brink of extinction.

Not a happy ‘Wayward Pines’ for humans

Author Blake Crouch of the original book trilogy where “Wayward Pines” was based from, recently revealed that the upcoming third season of the TV series would follow the gripping Season 2 finale but it will not be a happy one for the humans.

It seems that Crouch was hinting that the Abbies were successful in their invasion of the humans.

He explained that the humans that CJ Mitchum put into the cryo-pods will not be waking up to a happy future in “Wayward Pines” Season 3, adding that the third and final season could be the darkest one for the humans because they shall be facing extinction, reports the Parent Herald.

The author explained that the evolution can no longer be reversed so the Abbies cannot return to human form in Season 3 of “Wayward Pines” the way that the Season 2 finale seemed to suggest.
