‘Modern Family’ Season 8 to See the Three Families Together for the First Time and Celebrating Father’s Day!

The upcoming Season 8 of the American television mockumentary “Modern Family” shall return on ABC on September 21 and it will start off on a high note as the families of Pritchett, Dunphy, and Tucker will be together for the first time and will be celebrating Father’s Day too.

The celebration will happen during the show’s premiere Season 8 episode after the three families’ respective vacations in New York, Mexico, and the Midwest.

Subsequently, the families shall return to their normal lives once again. It has already been reported that veteran comedy actor Martin Short and Nathan Fillion of “Castle” shall be the guests of the TV series for its Halloween and New Year’s Eve episodes, respectively.

Martin Short will appear in one episode where he shall be working with Phil Dunphy, played by Ty Burrell.

It was executive producer Steve Levitan who disclosed the episode featuring Martin Short when he revealed that Martin shall be playing a guy who does promotional items and works with Phil to do all of his calendars, pencils, water bottles, mugs and all of that stuff. Short will be the sort of local king of promotional merchandise, details the Christian Today.

Levitan went on to say that Nathan Fillion, on the other hand, shall be playing the role of a local TV weatherman, who gets involved with the Dunphy family.

The showrunner also revealed that Mitch Pritchett, played by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Cameron Tucker, played by Eric Stonestreet, shall be taking in one of Cam’s football players and will be staying with them for a while.

He said that the additional person into their little world would certainly provide a lot of hilarious possibilities for the storyline of the two.

Levitan also assured fans that Season 8 of “Modern Family” will have more hilarious scenes and warm gatherings that the family often brings through diversity and culture.

Getting over Andy

During the Season 7 finale of “Modern Family,” Haley Dunphy, played by Sarah Hyland, broke up with her boyfriend Andy, played by Adam Patrick DeVine, to allow him to pursue his dream job elsewhere.

While Andy was the first man she ever loved, Haley wanted him to be successful. It will be a question whether she will get over him in Season 8 or whether they would start a long-distance relationship between them.

But fans are certainly not hoping that Haley will move backward and run to the arms of her former high school boyfriend Dylan, played by Reid Ewing.

Meanwhile, Claire Dunphy, played by Julie Bowen, and Jay Pritchett, played by Ed O’Neill, will have to come to the realization that there is a need to balance the powers at the office especially considering that Claire is now in charge.

It can be recalled that Jay left his business to his daughter when he retired in Season 7. He was so bored at home that he asked to help out around the office.

Changing of the guard in the office and at home

But having been the big boss in the office for so long, Jay is so used to being the boss that he hates asking anyone for help. He would not even ask the assistant to help him print copies for Claire when he knew nothing about copy machines. Even worse, Jay does not think that Claire can handle everything on her own.

It would be interesting to see how Jay handles or accepts the changing of the guard in the office he painstakingly put up.

There is also a lot of changes in Claire after spending 20 years as a stay-at-home mother and Phil Dunphy will have some issues with her. He will even think of Claire as an invisible housewife, notes the Latin Post.

Things will be changing also in the house since Claire is now a boss in the office and she is likely to bring some of the trait and the attitude at home, much to the chagrin of Phil.

Incidentally, “Modern Family” has been nominated for four different Emmys including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Cast for a Comedy Series, Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Animation, and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Ty Burrell.

It will be another feather in the cap of the long-running TV series if it will bag at least one or all four of the Emmy Awards category where it is nominated.

“Modern Family,” which premiered on ABC on September 23, 2009, actually follows the lives of Jay Pritchett and his family, all of whom live in suburban Los Angeles.

The Pritchett family includes Jay’s second wife, his stepson, as well as his two adult children and their spouses and children.

Aside from Steven Levitan, actor Christopher Lloyd, best remembered for the “Back to the Future” movie series, conceived “Modern Family” while sharing stories of their own families.

The TV series is actually presented in a mockumentary style, with the fictional characters frequently talking directly into the cameras.
