Writer George R.R. Martin was never one to succumb to deadline pressure. He reportedly refused to work on the Winds of Winter deadline that was set for by Bantam Books. He had asked them to push back the deadline to 2016.
The fanbase of George R.R Martin’s books are known for their patience. They wait for years for the next title to be launched. The fifth book of the series ‘A Song of Fire and Ice’ called ‘A Dance with Dragons’ was released in the summer of 2011. Fans have since then waited for the release of the sixth instalment, ‘Winds of Winter’ and till date there are no official word about its release.

Writing of Winds of Winter has been stalled because of Martin’s busy schedule. His novel became an instant hit when it was adapted into a television series by HBO called Game of Thrones. Ever since the popularity of the series, Martin saw instant fame. He is constantly travelling to different parts of the world to give interviews and participate in talk shows and book reading sessions. The constant travelling and other commitments related to promotion of Game of Thrones, kept him busy and drained him; this completely hampered the progress of Winds of Winter.
George R.R Martin said that he couldn’t write when he was travelling. He couldn’t pen a single word when he was on a flight or staying in a posh hotel. He had to be on his own writing desk at home to write and this arrangement was becoming difficult to come by given his hectic schedule.
