Trust the rumor mills to think and say the unthinkable that it no longer came as a surprise when reports came out that Orlando Bloom shall become the new lead star of the fifth “Pirates of the Caribbean” film vice Johnny Depp.
Apparently, the speculations started with recent reports that Johnny Depp has been in a complete mess as of late following the marriage split with his erstwhile wife Amber Heard.
Because of the breakup, the rumors said that Johnny Depp has been a very difficult person to deal with on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” which is officially titled as “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” states Game & Guide.
In fact, the same set of rumors are saying that because of the problems that the production people have been encountering with the 52-year-old actor, the producers have decided to give the lead star role to Orlando Bloom’s Will Turner, since he will be meeting his son, to be played by Brenton Thwaites, in the movie.
However, those who are privy to the production timeline of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” would know that the movie has already completed filming as of early this year. There was an additional three-week filming from March to April that was taken in Vancouver, Canada, but it was meant more to accommodate the scenes of Beatles’ legend Sir Paul McCartney in the movie.
Thus, it becomes clear that the recent round of rumors about “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” now swirling rather uncontrollably on the internet are inaccurate and obviously meant to hype the movie, which is due to hit theaters on May 26, 2017.
A reboot of the franchise
Other rumors circling the internet these days also say that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” shall be a reboot of the franchise, which runs contrary to previous reports saying that the upcoming movie shall go back to its roots or take after the first movie because its plotline has already veered off course.
Actress Kaya Scodelario actually confirmed as early as last year that the upcoming movie shall tie all loose ends left by the first four films to be able to open new storylines, which could also be a hint that the franchise could spur more sequels or spin-off films.
This again goes contrary to the new round of rumors saying that “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” is going to be the last in the franchise
The new speculations connected the filming woes that the production had with Johnny Depp from as early as last year that they no longer want to do a repeat of the same experience in the future, notes the Parent Herald.
But regardless of what transpired during the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5,” producers Disney Film and Buenavista Pictures shall be looking more on how the movie fares in the box-office next year. If it is a let-down, it is almost sure that it is going to be the last. But if it becomes a blockbuster, then it is likely that a sixth movie in the franchise might be forthcoming.
The reasons for filming delays
Now that Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are already divorcing, the truth is starting to come out regarding the reasons for the massive delay in the filming of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” in Australia last year.
Apparently, because of the already deteriorating relationship of actor Johnny Depp with his then newly-married wife Amber Heard, he had to make others wait on the set. He either shows up later, very late, or not at all, causing crew members to quip that the actor was a nightmare to work with on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
It was actually DJ Jackie O’ Henderson who made the tell-all revelation on the Australian breakfast radio show “The Kyle and Jackie O Show” when she said that some crew members on the movie told her that they were frequently left waiting for Depp to show up for work.
According to DJ O’ Henderson, Johnny Depp would not show up on the set because he and Amber Heard were fighting.
