Michael Schumacher and his family had undergone a horrific tragedy last year when the veteran Formula One driver met with a life threatening skiing accident. The veteran driver’s long time friend and FIA’s (International Automobile Federation) President Jean Todt, made a few very encouraging announcements regarding Michael Schumacher, while his condition was on the verge of improvement.
However, these improvements were minor compared to Michael’s overall health condition. Fans could not heave a sigh of relief since updates regarding Schumacher’s health were scarce and inconclusive. However, the situation has started looking up ever since Schumacher woke up from coma and was shifted to his private accommodation at Lake Geneva.
However, the veteran driver is currently under heavy medical surveillance and is visited frequently by health workers and neurologists. Philippe Streiff, a former racing star, reported that Michael Schumacher is currently paralyzed, is unable to speak and wheelchair-bound. Streiff, who is also bound to a wheelchair ever since his accident in Brazil in 1989, made it public that Schumacher is recovering, but it is likely to be a time consuming process.
Streiff is reported to have been visiting Schumacher ever since he was admitted in Grenoble Hospital, France. The doctors’ version of the story has been inconsistent too. While most of them suggest that Michael will be able to get back to his feet within three years, a senior neurologist has claimed otherwise. He believes that all is not well and the situation is not as smooth as he had originally anticipated.
Erich Riederer, the neurologist, revealed, “Michael Schumacher will remain an invalid all throughout his life and will be dependent on others for his daily activities.” Even though there are no secondary sources to confirm this report, the fan base has erupted ever since this piece of information went viral back in July this year.
Riederer clarified that the injuries sustained by the seven-time Formula One World Champion during the skiing stint may have caused permanent damage, which can be healed only via therapy. Needless to say, this is a time consuming process and will require a lot of patience over the years.
Sabine Kehm, Michael Schumacher’s Manager, revealed that time has been tough on the Schumacher family, although, they have been successfully able to sail through the toughest storm and will continue fighting all odds in their battle. Schumacher waking up from his five month-long coma is a miracle in itself and the family is confident of him making a speedy recovery over time!
Kehm also revealed that the Schumacher household is extremely thankful to all the fans and well wishers for their incessant support and prayers for Michael during the most important race of his lifetime, a race against time!
