The electric vehicle market has been taking off slowly but steadily, after an initial wave of skepticism faced the very first models we saw. Tesla in particular have been moving forward a lot, and the company has made significant progress over the years. Many attribute their success to not only the quality work of their engineers, but also Elon Musk’s long-term vision for the company and its future projects. That’s why they started with their expensive initial models, allowing them to reach their current state. Talks about the Tesla Model 3 keep pointing out various great details about the car, and its battery has especially been the subject of much attention lately.
Tesla are indeed in traducing a new battery model with the new vehicle, called the P100D, which is claimed to perform significantly better than anything we’ve seen so far by the company. The new battery will not only have a much better capacity than old models, but it could also come with some improvements in aspects like charging speed and charge control.
The company’s engineers have been boasting about their new developments quite a lot, claiming that they’ve been able to cram more capacity in the new battery without increasing its size too drastically at the same time. This is still a major factor in the design of electric car batteries, as companies are trying to find a good balance between weight and performance. It does look like we’re getting closer and closer to what everyone was imagining a decade ago, but it will of course take some time.
Tesla’s fans seem particularly excited for the future of the company too, as the release of the Model 3 is reportedly the final step in their original business plan. Now that they’ve acquired regular funding and they’ve established their position on the market, the company can move on to even more affordable models and a wider market coverage. And as can be expected, this came as great news to many, especially those who’ve been interested in getting an electric car for themselves, but were turned off by the price until now.

Visuals have generally been a lower priority than performance in the design of Tesla’s cars, even though the company has always managed to get it right with every release, so it’s good to see that their designers still have enough freedom to come up with new approaches to the appearance of the car. We expect them to try some even more interesting ideas for the next models that the company is planning, and it’s entirely possible that the next Tesla cars could be a bold fashion statement.
There is still time until we get there, of course, as for now all focus is on the Model 3. The Model Y has been revealed as the successor to the Model 3, but not a lot of specific information has been given out about it yet. All we know for sure is that Tesla are reportedly aiming at an even lower price range than the Model 3, so they are apparently still running according to the original plan.
