The 10th season of the sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” will premiere on September 19 and the new season will open the morning after the events of the Season 9 finale.
Executive producer Steve Molaro teased that the first episode will feature what happens after Sheldon’s mom Mary and Leonard’s dad Alfred apparently spent the night together.
Although it wasn’t shown, the two were speculated to have a romantic rendezvous just before Season 9 ended.
If the romance between Mary and Alfred blossoms, it could mean that Leonard and Sheldon will end up as step-brothers.
Fans are excited how the two will react after finding out what happened between their parents.
One of the most awaited things on the upcoming season is the introduction of Penny’s family. Penny’s father Wyatt, played by Keith Carradine, already made an appearance in previous seasons.
Fans will finally meet the rest of Penny’s family. It was reported that Katey Sagal has been cast as her mother while Jack McBrayer will play as her brother.
According to the season’s synopsis, Sagal will portray the anxiety-ridden and neurotic Susan while MacBrayer will play her drug dealing son Randall.
It still remains uncertain if Carradine will reprise Wyatt in the upcoming season along with Penny’s sister. Penny shared that she has a sister who is the mother of the nephew she frequently talks about.
Molaro shared that Sagal was asked before to appear in the series but plans for her character’s introduction initially did not work.
However, her name kept floating around and when the producers were already sure that Penny’s mom will finally be introduced, they immediately tapped Sagal for the role.
According to the Vine Report, Penny will pick them up from the airport just in time for her and Leonard’s wedding, but their time together is expected to become awkward as they travel from the airport to the wedding venue.
Fans will remember that Leonard and Penny already got married in Las Vegas at the start of Season 9 and this time they plan to do it again in front of their families and friends.
With the arrival of Penny’s family, her maiden name is also expected to be unveiled. Her surname, before marrying Leonard, has been a long-running mystery in the show and fans are excited to find out what it is.
Meanwhile, Howard and Bernadette will be seen adjusting to their new roles as parents in Season 10.
Last season, Howard had issues after finding out that Bernadette was pregnant, believing that he won’t be a good father.
Entertainment Tonight reports that it will be interesting to see how this new responsibility of theirs affect them and how the couple will cope with it.
After Raj picked Emily over Claire last season, fans will now start to see the couple take their relationship to a whole new level. There are also rumors saying that Claire will come back again and try to steal Raj back.
As for Sheldon and Amy, after finally affirming their feelings for each other, reports say that the pair will now move in together and could potentially be the second couple in the show headed down the aisle.
Reports say that the couple will have plenty of screen time in the upcoming season as they have a huge fan base.
Dean Norris has also been cast to play Captain Williams, a tough Air Force representative from the Department of Material Command, who’s interested in the boys’ quantum gyroscope for military actions. Norris will have a multi-episode arc in Season 10.
Filming for the 10th season has begun and the stars welcomed the new installment with a selfie. Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny, posted a picture with the rest of the cast with both their hands up signifying their 10th season run.
