“Sister Wives” is a show built around drama, so it should come as no surprise to any of its fans when things go sideways for its characters; and yet, it looks like the producers are preparing some particularly dramatic moments in the upcoming eight season of the show, and there are even rumors claiming that the production might be coming to an end soon.
The Brown family has been surrounded by problems for quite some time now, and it looks like things are about to get even worse for them in this season, if the rumors are true. Kody in particular will be severely affected by the circumstances, and this will be quite obvious. There are also rumors that Kody had some specific requests for the show, such as adding additional wives to his family, but the producers didn’t approve of that and he was blocked.
This could be part of the reason for Kody’s allegedly negative attitude in season 8, but there is likely more to come as well, if other rumors are to be believed. There are some indications that Kody could find himself surrounded in cheating-related drama, and we’re not quite sure how someone with his temper would deal with that kind of problem.
Then there are some more negative rumors about the show, claiming that it’s close to being canceled, and that season 8 is under a major question mark right now. The production has apparently not been doing that well lately in terms of ratings, and the new issues surrounding the set haven’t had a positive impact on the showrunners either. On the other hand, the show as a whole has been somewhat controversial with viewers and the media alike, and some see it as a surprise that it even got as far as its first seven seasons.
With all that in mind, it’s entirely possible that “Sister Wives” could be taken off the screen, and that might even happen before the eight season has been released. There are apparently some legal issues surrounding the family as well, and Kody Brown has been putting a lot of effort into fighting those issues in court lately. We don’t know if he’ll make any actual progress or not, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the producers decided to pull the plug regardless of the outcome of his work.
After all, they’re motivated by viewership and ratings, and drama is not exactly counterproductive for those things. The show has actually benefited a lot from being in the news, especially in some more negative contexts, but recently even that’s apparently not enough to keep the viewer numbers high enough. There is a possibility that the producers are planning some special developments for the new season, as we pointed out in the beginning of this article, aimed at saving the show and restoring its strong ratings. But those are just rumors right now and nothing has been confirmed yet.
Last but not least, there are also rumors that Kody’s wives might turn against him due to his desire to expand the family, and this could be one of the main points of season 8 if it ever reaches the screen. Fans have been split in their opinions on that, with some claiming that they wouldn’t want to see too much drama between the Brown family members, but after all, this is what drives this show forward to a large extent as we pointed out.

Some unscrupulous people are claiming that Mariah is leading a gay lifestyle. This is plainly wrong to mention, unless she, herself, declares that she is emerging from the proverbial closet, which she has not done yet. The private lives of reality stars should be off limits. Stars perform in front of a camera and are paid handsomely for those scenes, the off camera life they indulge in should remain secretive and not scrutinized. Meri, her mother, had a secretive affair that should never have been exposed in the media, but was to the extent that millions upon millions of people read about it and heard recordings that were only intended to be intimately listened to by her lover.
Totally agree, Katherine, what stars do and with whom is no one’s business off camera. Lifestyles are a private matter. Love is not always politically correct, but it is always beautiful. Mariah has every right to be with who she wants to be with, period. Meri also has a right to privacy that was violated by tabloids digging to find dirt. Meri wanted only to protect her fans. Everyone should just stand back and appreciate and enjoy the camera time that Meri and Mariah selflessly provide their fans and leave it at that.
It’s pretty obvious that since the show has not been renewed yet that it probably won’t be.
