The Winds of Winter Projected to Come Out on the First Quarter of 2017 Based on the Writing Speed of George R.R. Martin, Points Out Theorist

Critically-acclaimed author George R.R. Martin of the popular fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire” has said time and again that he was a slow writer.

In fact, his slow writing speed is the reason why the HBO hit TV series “Game of Thrones” has overtaken the source material, which is his fantasy novel series. The recently concluded Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” could have been based on the sixth book, “The Winds of Winter,” had it come out earlier but it did not. As a result, the TV series went ahead with the book.

Subsequently, there were reports saying that “The Winds of Winter” will finally come out before Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” premieres on HBO next year, which put the possible release date of the book to book shelves any time from October 2016 to April 2017.

But then, “Game of Thrones” just announced a few weeks ago that it would be deferring the release of Season 7 at a much later date, probably around June, which once again opened up the window for the release of “The Winds of Winter” from October 2016 to June 2017.

A writing speed analyst

Of late, however, a popular theorist, who is obviously a fan of George Martin and his fantasy novel series, has recently come out to say that based on the writing speed of his favorite author, “The Winds of Winter” could actually come out in the first quarter of 2017.

The man, who goes by the name of BrydenBFish is actually an active member of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” subreddit and even has a blog dedicated to the major wars and politics of the popular fantasy novel series, details iTech Post.

BrydenBFish based his latest theory on the study he made on Martin’s writing speed based on the previous books of “A Song of Ice and Fire.”

The fan previously analyzed Martin’s writing speed from when the author was writing the fifth book of the series, “A Dance with Dragons,” which is the basis of his theory on the possible release date for “The Winds of Winter.”

Currently at Worldcon 2016

He has previously said that he would limit his participation in events in order to focus on completing “The Winds of Winter” but George R.R. Martin appears to have made some exceptions.

This week, he is participating in the 74th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) 2016) at Kansas City in Missouri beginning on August 17 and lasting all the way to August 21, cites the Christian Post.

The 67-year-old author is set to hold his lineup of activities in the event but fans hoping to hear from him about “The Winds of Winter” may be disappointed to know that he would not be saying anything about the book.

He said that he would just be there to enjoy the event but he shall be having an autograph signing session with the fans, reading, and panel appearances at Worldcon 2016.

Martin’s recent blog also confirmed that he will not be making any announcement about “The Winds of Winter” and he has also told some fans to stop making nonsense speculations about the sixth book of “A Song of Ice and Fire” because he will make the announcement about it whenever he is ready to do so.

Meanwhile, HarperCollins, the publisher of the books of George R.R. Martin, has quashed the rumors going wild online that “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” shall come out in October 2016 in time for the World Fantasy Convention (WorldCon).

The Winds of Winter

Jaki Arthur, head of marketing and communications of HarperCollins Australia, said that speculations have been rife in Australia and across the world that George Martin shall be releasing “The Winds of Winter” at the WorldCon.

He said that they do not know what will happen at the WorldCon but “The Winds of Winter” will not be one of the highlights of the event.

But Arthur went on to acknowledge the efforts of Martin in delivering “The Winds of Winter” although he remains mum on the book’s publication date.
