‘Vikings’ Season 4B to Feature Lagertha Finding a New Romantic Relationship with Astrid!

The midseason premiere of the second half of Season 4 of the Canadian-Irish historical drama series “Vikings” on the History Channel has been pushed back from July to either late this year or early next year.

While initial reports were saying that the producers of “Vikings” wanted the TV series to avoid airing on the same dates as the Season 6 of “Game of Thrones” on HBO, the push-back to several months appears to be an altogether different story.

It may be a programming strategy on the part of History Channel but it clearly heightened the fan excitement and enthusiasm of fans on Season 4B of “Vikings.”

Based on latest reports, the second half of the fourth season of the TV series shall have a massive time jump from its Season 4 spring finale.

The History Channel also released several images of the Season 4B of “Vikings” and most of the viewers’ eyes were focused on Lagertha, played by Katheryn Winnick. Fans have keenly noted the glow about her as the Earl of Hedeby stands in a field of grass and reports have it that her radiance has something to do with the woman standing behind her in the same image, notes the International Business Times.

A new woman suitor

Showrunner Michael Hirst confirmed in a recent interview that Lagertha shall have a new romantic relationship in the second half of Season 4 of “Vikings.”

But it would not be with any man as her new suitor will be a woman. Apparently, a new female character has been made as a cast member of “Vikings” named Astrid, to be played by Josefin Asplund.

Hirst said that Astrid shall become part of Lagertha’s life as they go into a relationship. He explained that Lagertha has taken to Astrid after having been betrayed by the men in her life.

The showrunner said that she would be in a relationship with someone whom she feels more comfortable with and someone whom she feels she might be able to trust.

There is also another photo of Lagertha and Astrid attending a dinner in Kattegat among the promo images officially released by the History Channel.

Reconciliation in the offing

There are also reports saying that the second half of Season 4 of “Vikings” shall see the reconciliation between King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, and his once loyal builder Floki, played by Gustaf Skarsgard.

The friendship of Ragnar and Floki was strained because of the Christian monk Athelstan, played by George Blagden.

Hirst confirmed that Ragnar shall return to his oldest connections in Season 4 so he would reach out to his surviving beloved friends in Floki and former wife Lagertha, reports the Parent Herald.

The first half of Season 4 of “Vikings” aired from February to late in April this year for a total of 10 episodes.

The second half of 10 episodes shall be completed either late this year or early next year depending on the holiday programming of the History Channel.

The cast and executive producers of “Vikings” recently took part in the San Diego ComicCon and they hinted at possible major changes in Kattegat.

vikings

While the death of King Ragnar Lothbrok has been rumored long before the Season 4 of “Vikings” premiered early this year, it looks like the second half would finally make it a reality.

Based on the official trailer of Season 4B of “Vikings,” it somehow showed the sons of Ragnar looking to avenge the death of their father in the hands of King Aelle of Northumbria.

Historically, it was King Aelle of Northumbria who killed King Ragnar after he threw the Norse hero into a pit of venomous snake.
