The latest trailer for the upcoming Season 4 of the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” on NBC imposed the question ‘Who is Liz’s father?’ This implies that Liz Keen, played by Megan Boone shall be working to find out whether Alexander Kirk, played by Ulrich Thomsen, is indeed his true father as the latter claimed.
In the Season 3 finale of “The Blacklist” aired in May, Kirk told Liz that he is Constantin Rostova, the father she thinks she already killed a long time ago.
It has been said in the series that Liz shot her father dead while defending her domestically-abused mother.
It was also said during the Season 3 finale that Kirk had an agreement with Mr. Kaplan, played by Susan Blommaert, to set up a meeting with Liz so they could have that father-daughter heart-to-heart talk.
However, Liz decided to fake her own death in order to know more about the truth about her family.
It has been said that just like Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, Kirk has been looking after his daughter ever since the police follow her for the crime she has nothing to do with, details Game & Guide.
Turning the tables on Red
If and when Liz believes that Kirk is her father, then both of them would turn the tables on Red, who will sort of become the bad guy in their relationship. Liz appears to be favoring Kirk as Red often keeps secrets from her.
In addition to the father-daughter relationship of Kirk and Liz, Season 4 of “The Blacklist” shall also zero in on various other plotlines as well as several shocking revelations.
Executive producer Jon Bonkenkamp confirmed that the fourth season will see Red proving himself to Liz after what happened to their relationship back in Season 3. It is not yet sure, however, if his intentions are really good or wants to take revenge on Liz for putting one over him.
There are also reports saying that Katerina Rostova, played by Lotte Verbeek, the mother of Liz, shall also be returning in Season 4 of “The Blacklist” when it premieres on September 22 on NBC.
The Dutch actress already made an appearance during Season 3 of the hit NBC show but her presence in Season 4 has yet to be confirmed by the producers.
Keeping fans on their toes
Bonkenkamp also said that the upcoming season of “The Blacklist” shall keep fans on their toes. He said that there will be more than a few betrayals so it would do the fans well if they review Season 3 of the TV show, reports the Parent Herald.
He said that fans going back and seeing the Season 3 episodes with some distance would be very insightful aside from being fun to do. He also confirmed that they love laying little Easter eggs or hints here and there too, indicating that the upcoming betrayals or shocking revelations have some pre-suppositions in the past episodes.
Bonkenkamp also confirmed that Season 4 will see a lot more of Alexander Kirk and he will also provide answers to a lot of “The Blacklist” questions.
However, his presence would also raise many questions so fans and viewers should prepare for another emotional roller-coaster ride.
As the revelation of Alexander Kirk was far different from what Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington told her, it furthered soured Liz’s already stale relationship with Red which came on the heels of Liz playing Red for a fool as she faked her own death.
There are two possible ways that Liz could react to Kirk’s claim that he is her father. The first one is she would accept it as it is in which case she would be in danger still because Kirk has shown initial intention to harm her.
