At least two episodes of the upcoming Season 3 of the American superhero drama TV series “The Flash” on The CW will feature the mutated gorilla Grodd returning to Gorilla City.
Back in Season 1, Barry Allen, Joe West, and Cisco Ramon scoured through Central City’s sewers to track down a menacing threat that was killing city workers.
They eventually discovered Grodd. In Season 2, after Grodd mind-controlled scientists to steal chemicals in the hope of creating more intelligent gorillas, he was captured and sent to a jungle sanctuary on Earth-2 known as Gorilla City.
It appears now that the third season of “The Flash” shall feature a ‘Planet of the Apes’ storyline as Grodd and the Gorilla City shall reportedly be highlighted in a two-part episode.
Dawn of the intelligent apes
Producer Andrew Kreisberg made the confirmation of the particular plotline during the TCA press tour. He said that Grodd will indeed be featured in Season 3 of “The Flash” but he will not be coming back to Central City.
Based on the comic books, Gorilla City is actually a tropical oasis hidden away from humans. The residents of Gorilla City are all hyper-intelligent apes who gained their telepathic powers after an alien spacecraft crash-landed into their home, details Screen Rant.
Grodd went on to kill the king of the apes and took over the mantle, using his neo-magnetic radiation to force other gorillas to follow him.
The Scarlet Speedster then found out about the city just as Grodd was trying to take over the entire world. It could be the same plotline that “The Flash” shall feature in a two-part episode in Season 3 or it could be a different one too.
In fact, in the TV series, Grodd was just being used as a test subject by General Wade Eiling’s scientists in their military experiments so it would be interesting how the mutated ape would turn out to be in Season 3 of “The Flash” when it finally airs on October 4 on The CW.
Biggest Grodd story
Blastr reported the biggest Grodd story in “The Flash” is coming this fall. Grodd will be stomping his wares in Gorilla City hidden in the jungles of Africa and features an entire race of super-intelligent gorillas.
Kreisberg said that they have been trying to play the long game with the Grodd story on “The Flash,” planting seeds and building the mythology each season.
He also explained that he would liken Gorilla City to Ra’s al Ghul. He said that it’s a long-term thing and confirmed that they are doing a two-part episode that takes place in Gorilla City.
The Flashpoint storyline might be the most important story in “The Flash” Season 3 but Grodd could really be the most entertaining plotline.
It has already been confirmed that “The Flash” on The CW shall focus on the Flashpoint storyline. The classic comic book storyline became imminent following the shocking Season 2 finale of “The Flash”
During the concluding episode of Season 2 of “The Flash,” Barry Allen, played by Grant Gustin, traveled back in time to save the life of his mother. However, his trip created a time paradox where everything that has happened in Season 1 was erased, leading fans to believe that the superhero series will start on a new slate and adapt DC Comic’s Flashpoint storyline.
Actor Carlos Valdes, who plays Cisco Ramon in “The Flash,” practically confirmed the rumors when he said during an interview that there is every chance of a Flashpoint paradox in the TV series.
He explained that while some people are having reservations about that, some people think it’s a good idea. Valdes said that wherever the show goes from the Season 2 finale, it is going to be unique and it is going to be different because it is going to honor the original chronology and the original lore while putting a new spin on it.
