‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ to be Launched by Rockstar Games at the Upcoming Gamescom 2016, Latest Rumors Say!

Gamescom 2016 is due to kick off in Cologne, Germany on August 18 and the biggest piece of rumor that is contributing major hype to the event is the reported launching of the open world Western action-adventure video game “Red Dead Redemption 2” by American game developer Rockstar Games.

As if to guarantee that Rockstar Games will really make a big splash at the event, there are even reports saying that the game developer will either be unveiling “Red Dead Redemption 2” or the open world action-adventure video game “Grand Theft Auto 6.”

However, the “GTA 6” launching rumors appear to be very early on the developer’s production timeline and should be taken with a fine grain of salt, reports Trusted Reviews.

The rumors of a Rockstar video game coming out at Gamescom 2016 started when reports indicated that the studio is hard at work on some exciting future projects that shall be revealed soon.

But early this year, the hype was saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” will officially be launched by Rockstar at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 held in Los Angeles, California in June but nothing happened.

It was said that Rockstar decided to put off the unveiling of its widely-anticipated video game following the Orlando shooting incident early in June as there is a portion in “Red Dead Redemption 2” showing a player entering a saloon and firing from all angles, which was similar to what the Orlando shooter did upon entering a night club, resulting in the death of over 50 and injury to more than 50 others.

Pressure is on Rockstar to launch

Many critics believe that because of the franchises’ massive mainstream success, the pressure is now on Rockstar Games to release “Red Dead Redemption 2” or “GTA 6” very soon, and reports have it that any one of the two games will come out in 2017, reports Game & Guide.

Take-Two, the parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games, recently reported the results of the fiscal year 2016 ending on June 30 with a net revenue of $311.6 million.

Based on the breakdown, the main contributors to the gaming company’s net revenue are “GTA 5,” “NBA 2K16,” and “Battleborn.”

When “GTA 5” was released in October 2013, it shipped 11.21 million copies amounting to $800 million worldwide.

In just six weeks after its release, Rockstar reported to have shipped about 29 million copies of the game and went on to become the best-selling digital release on the PlayStation Store.

Pushing the wait a little while longer

When Rockstar Games and publisher Sony Computer Entertainment failed to launch and released a gameplay trailer of “Red Dead Redemption 2” during the E3 2016, fans and gamers were dismayed, realizing that they have to wait a little while longer as to when the developer will finally decide to launch the video game.

But the launching is more likely to happen towards the end of the year when the game is officially released to the gaming consoles next year.

However, Adam Boyes of Sony has recently come out to dispel rumors that “Red Dead Redemption 2” was bumped off from the Sony E3 presser because of its violent gameplay trailer.

He said that as far as he knows, nothing was cut from the conference at all. But it could also be an effort to appease fan frustration over the no-show of “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

Red Dead Redemption 2

As it is, “Red Dead Redemption 2” could still launch at the following events this year including Gamescom, the Paris Games Week, the Tokyo Game Show, and the PlayStation Experience. It is almost sure that Rockstar Games will pick an event to finally launch its highly-anticipated “Red Dead Redemption 2.”

The consensus of the rumors about “Red Dead Redemption 2” is that it is going to be a prequel of the original game and shall come out officially as “Red Dead Redemption: Legends of the West.”
