Square Enix has been mum on the development of the highly-anticipated “Kingdom Hearts 3,” but now reports are surfacing that the newest addition to the popular franchise will come with a better storyline and will include Xenahort and Eraqus as player characters.
The Christian Times reported that the new game will feature a new combat system as well as the two keyblade masters as playable characters. Also, the game will reportedly conclude the Dark Seeker Saga.
Xehanort was an apprentice of Ansem the Wise and the original persona of Ansem and Xemnas. He is the main antagonist of the series so players will now have a chance to play the bad guys with the upcoming game.
Eraqus, on the other hand, is the master of Terra and Aqua and serves as the second master of Ventus. Before becoming a keyblade master, he was a keyblade user alongside his fellow apprentice Xehanort. The character’s name is an anagram of square, a reference for developer Square Enix.
Speaking to Games Beat game director Tai Yasue says that the strings and strands in the previous “Kingdom Hearts” games will all come together in “Kingdom Hearts 3.”
Yasue co-directs both “Kingdom Hearts 3” and “Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue,” an HD remastered collection of the Disney-centric series and a successor to “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix.”
Yasue adds that since the game is depicting the Dark Seeker Saga, with Xenahort and his group that Sora’s battling, them and other keyblade masters will have a sort of showdown.
The game director also teases that the upcoming game will include a better storyline than previous games. However, there’s a catch and that is gamers should understand all the stories.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” is not a prerequisite for gamers to experience titles and first-time gamers will surely enjoy the action-adventure video game.
Yasue says that while having experienced the whole arc would help players to better understand the game, players can still have fun in the Disney worlds presented in each installment.
Yasue says that “Kingdom Hearts 3” will use the moves from “Birth by Sleep” and enhance it.
He says that Aqua’s magical spells and her style changes will have an enhanced version. He adds that the moves will be a lot flashier but not too difficult for the players to maneuver.
“Kingdom Hearts 3” was announced more than three years ago at E3 2013 but little details have been revealed about the action role-playing game. It is the 11th installment in the Kingdom Hearts series and is the sequel to “Kingdom Hearts 2.”
Fans were worried when Square Enix did not give concrete answers when asked what to expect with the game. They initially thought that the title was shelved already but Square Enix dismissed these rumors.
Since the release of the 2005 game, Square Enix has released eight other titles, two of these are namely “Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep” and “Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8” are coming out in December.
“Birth by Sleep” will be available for the Nintendo 3DS gaming console while “2.8” is being developed exclusively for the PS4.
Square Enix has not yet announced an official release date for the game. However, ardent gamers and critics say that there’s a good chance that it will make its way to gaming consoles next year.
As per Yibada, it looks like the game will be coming to the PS4, Xbox One and that Square Enix has no plans to release a “Kingdom Hearts 3” PC version at the moment much to the clamor of PC players.
Longtime players expect that the game will sport an upgraded gameplay, graphics and better playing experience overall compared to previous titles.
