Following the Season 3 finale of the American supernatural drama TV series “The Originals” where werewolf Marcel, played by Charles Michael Davis, practically bundled almost the entire Mikaelson clan, only two of the family remain in Hayley, played by Phoebe Tonkin and Hope, her daughter with Klaus.
It can be recalled that among the Mikaelsons, only Hope is immune from a werewolf bite for some reason.
As expected, the rescue of the Mikaelsons from the spell that Marcel placed on Klaus and then linked by Freya, played by Riley Voelkel, to all of them, can only be undone by their two remaining family members, unless the showrunners decide to bring in Damon and Stefan Salvatore from its parent series “The Vampire Diaries.”
Klaus is destined to spend eternity, writhing in pain because of the Tunde Blade embedded in his chest. Freya, Elijah, played by Daniel Gillies, and Kol, played by Nathaniel Buzolic, were all supposed to die but the witch used a complicated spell that sent their souls in a different realm, details the Ecumenical News.
Their sister Rebekah, played by Claire Holt, will not be able to help too since she has to deal with her own curse as well.
How the Mikaelsons shall be saved
Thus, speculations began on how the Mikaelsons will be saved when Season 4 of “The Originals” return to The CW in January next year.
The CW has made some programming changes and instead of the usual airing of “The Originals” in the fall, the network has decided to move it a few months later.
According to latest reports, the rescue of the Mikaelsons will not happen overnight and as such there shall be a major time jump in “The Originals” when it resumes for Season 4.
The time jump in the show has somewhat been confirmed when the producers announced that Summer Fontana shall play the role of an older Hope. Previously, the show was planning to have a nine-year-old child actress to play the role of the young Hope, indicating clearly of the time jump during Season 4 of “The Originals.”
Phoebe Tonkin also confirmed it when she said during the recently held San Diego ComicCon that she is excited to see how a grown-up Hope will fit in the new storyline. The actress also teased that the older Hope will bear a striking resemblance to his father Klaus not only in looks but also in temperament.
Immense changes in the time jump
According to Movie News Guide, there shall be a five-year time jump in “The Originals” Season 4 and the scope of possible changes during the time jump are going to be immense, considering the tumultuous challenges faced by the Mikaelsons in their personal lives.
Even the prophecy of their eternal doom does not make things any easier at all.
In a recent interview, actor Joseph Morgan, who plays Klaus Mikaelson, said that Hope shall have similar thoughts with her father.
He also confirmed that Klaus’ nightmares shall continue with the cursed dagger in his chest and his anger about Camille’s death grows with time.
Morgan said that there is a lot of anger in Klaus because of what happed to Cami and he shall be reminded of that early on in Season 4.
He also added that once Klaus wakes up from his sleep, his anguish for his daughter will return. The actor believes that Klaus will really be nervous to meet her daughter Hope already grown-up.
The finale episode of Season 3 of “The Originals” also saw Marcel watching over Klaus’ body, feeling something for what he just did to his former friend, either regret, remorse, or just sadness. Then he entombs Klaus in some unknown location, apparently set on leaving him that way until he decides to remove the blade and end Klaus’ torment.
Executive producer Michael Narducci almost confirmed that Hayley shall make the next move now that the Mikaelsons are down and she will try to communicate with them through their dreams.
