“Horrible Bosses 2” came out recently, and did a moderately successful job at continuing the original film, according to most critics as well as fans of the first one. However, at some point, rumors came out that there was a particular scene in the movie which involved Jennifer Aniston having sex under peculiar circumstances; and according to a recent interview with the actress on “Conan”, the scene was removed because it was really bad. So bad, in fact, that she shouldn’t even say much about it on the show.
Apparently, the notorious scene involved the character of Charlie Day, who was in a coma during the act, and unable to comply with anything. Even though the scene seems to touch on the uncomfortable topic of nonconsensual sex, however, this doesn’t seem to be the main reason behind its removal.
This is actually not the first time that the plot of the films has involved something like this, and the previous similar scene in the first film was left intact. However, according to Aniston, that scene wasn’t nearly as bad as the one filmed for the second movie, hence the decision to remove the latter one. From her description, the scene seems to have involved a particularly draining filming process, challenging for the entire crew.
In the interview, she revealed that the main reason for the scene’s difficulty was the fact that the other character was supposed to be in a coma, leading to a very awkward interaction during an already tense moment. She stated that she found it emotionally challenging to shoot the scene properly, and seemed relieved that it’s now over.
Fans who’re disappointed that they’ll never get to see the infamous scene may actually get some consolation, as Jennifer Aniston hinted at the possibility that the scene might be included as a special bonus in the film’s DVD release. This was just speculation on her side though, and it’s not confirmed by anyone officially involved with the film’s production yet. Apparently, the “bad” aspect of the scene was mostly tied to the process of filming it, not so much to any kind of disturbing content featured in the scene, in which case it shouldn’t be a big issue to include it.
The new film has been enjoying moderate success, with most claiming that it managed to build on the good parts of the first one without becoming too clichéd in any aspect, although there was some criticism aimed at the pacing of the script in some points. Those seemed to be random opinions and not any prevalent criticism, however.
