The last official sighting of Matt Ryan’s John Constantine came during episode 5 of Season 4 of the American supernatural drama TV series “Arrow” on The CW in November of last year.
“Arrow” benefitted from the cameo appearance of John Constantine when its ratings shoot up but unfortunately, it was just a one-off deal, said executive producer Marc Guggenheim.
A few weeks ago, reports started swirling wildly that Season 2 of the American supernatural drama TV series “Constantine” might get revived in The CW following the network’s decision to consolidate shows based on DC Comics on its lineup.
The CW has taken on “Supergirl” for Season 2 following its airing last year on CBS. The move gave the network four superhero TV series based on DC Comics and the three others are “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
The rumors of Season 2 revival of “Constantine” also intensified when the CW Seed, the network’s web channel, officially released Season 1 of “Constantine.”
Critics believe that it was a network strategy to keep fans in the loop about the story of “Constantine” which aired its first season on NBC. With CW Seed and The CW fans already familiar with Season 1 of “Constantine,” it would be easy for the network to cultivate interest and finally release Season 2 of the TV show featuring the Hellblazer in John Constantine.
Possible guesting on ‘Legends of Tomorrow’
Marc Guggenheim, who is also the executive producer of “Legends of Tomorrow,” revealed on Twitter on July 15 that they have already their table read for the show’s Season 2 premiere episode slated on October 13.
His post also came with an image of the cast as they prepare themselves for the read-through. But one actor in the photograph was deliberately pixilated by Guggenheim.
That has left fans immediately speculating on the identity of the actor and the most popular guesses are Tyler Hoechlin who played the role of Clark Kent in “Supergirl” Season 1 and Matt Ryan of “Constantine,” reports Design & Trend.
But many are of the opinion that it could be Matt Ryan and most everyone are now thinking that John Constantine might indeed appear initially on “Legends of Tomorrow” or perhaps in other The CW TV shows before he is given the green light to do Season 2 of “Constantine.”
After the character’s appearance in “Arrow” Season 4, it would no longer be surprising to see him appearing on “Legends of Tomorrow.” In fact, there were even rumors that came out last year saying that Matt is being considered to become a series regular beginning in Season 2 of “Legends of Tomorrow” taking on the role of John Constantine.
Silent on the rumors
However, The CW has not given any comment yet on rumors about its decision to add “Constantine” to its programming.
Critics believe that the return of “Constantine” on The CW is quite likely. Fans of the TV series have had a silent picket line for a Season 2 of their favorite show since showrunner Daniel Cerone announced on Twitter last year that Season 2 of “Constantine” is already dead on NBC.
In a recent post, Cerone said that he sees that there are new rumblings on “Constantine.” But he said that he has not heard anything official. He added that he would put out some feelers and see what he can learn, notes the Inquisitr.
It looks like the resurrection of Season 2 of “Constantine” is now becoming a possibility on The CW after the network decided to include the first season of the TV series for a rerun on its CW Seed.
CW Seed is a website that offers a variety of original ongoing shows as well as entire series of concluded shows.
The fact that CW Seed added the rerun of the 13 episodes of Season 1 of “Constantine” hints of a great possibility that its parent network will decide on reviving the show for Season 2.
The logic behind the possibility is simple. Season 1 of “Constantine” ended in a major cliffhanger so if CW Seed would run it, its viewers would just be turned off if the cliffhanger would not be eventually answered.
