Talk about versatility and Hollywood veteran actor Kevin Bacon simply has it in him. After the cancellation of the American thriller drama TV series “The Following” on Fox in May of last year, things have never been so busy with Kevin Bacon in terms of acting assignments, both in films and on TV.
As if those were not enough, it also gave him more than enough time to be active on the music scene with his brother Michael with their acoustic duo known as the Bacon Brothers.
Kevin and Michael have been in the music scene since 1995 but they only do gigs sparingly because of Kevin’s hectic film schedules.
The Bacon Brothers were very active in the music scene until 2011, although they were able to release a disco track in 2014 entitled “36 cents.”
With the cancellation last year of “The Following” after its Season 3 finale, Kevin Bacon was able to get more than enough time to reactivate his working band with his brother Michael.
Their first mainstream re-appearance on national TV happened late last year when they appeared in a commercial to promote the importance of having eggs for breakfast.
Since then, the Bacon Brothers have been on a roll. Their road shows and concert tours are all over the Twitter page of Kevin Bacon. In fact, last month, the actor was teasing of free tickets to their concert in different cities in the US.
During the Fourth of July, Kevin tweeted that the Bacon Brothers are working on a track which he teased as “Thicker Than Blood.” He did not disclose any other specifics but it is likely to be released soon or the duo would render it in their scheduled performances very soon.
More interesting stories to tell
While it’s no use crying over spilled milk at this time, but the reason why the “The Following” actually ended that way during its final episode of Season 3 is because it has more interesting stories to tell.
The revelation came from executive producer Alexi Hawley who said that the Season 3 finale was crafted as a prelude to a possible Season 4. But with Season 4 no longer happening, the Season 3 finale left “The Following” viewers with major unanswered questions.
Hawley further disclosed that the show’s writing team was fascinated by the possibility of a serial killer that was not coming from the poor or middle class of society, notes The Wrap.
He said that if the show was going to have an evil force out there, it has to be something bigger than Theo, played by Michael Ealy, or something bigger than Strauss, played by Gregg Henry, or more dominating than Joe Caroll, played by James Purefoy.
The showrunner said that the idea of having a very wealthy person or small group as the show’s big bad appealed to them.
He added that the concept of having an extremely rich serial killer, which he also described as an uber-rich serial killer, appealed to them in order for “The Following” to break away from the identity of the murderer.
Hawley said that the uber-rich were never identified and captured as serial killers, referring to alleged murderer and “Jinx” subject Robert Durst. He said that could not possibly be a result of genetics because they usually do not have such proclivities.
Along with a rumored villain, there were talks revealing that Ryan Hardy, played by Kevin Bacon, would have taken on a vigilante role in “The Following” Season 4.
Hawley teased that it had been Hardy answering the question he had been asking for the first three seasons, which were about having a life and becoming happy outside his obsessions. He said that the answer to those queries was ‘no’ but it had felt that viewers had really needed to answer it.
