Vice City or San Andreas: Where Will GTA 6 Be Set

Even though there’s a long time to go before “GTA 6” is announced, let alone comes out on the market, this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating wildly about what the next installment in the series could bring. Even some critics haven’t been able to resist discussing the possibilities for the franchise’s future, and there have been some rumors allegedly coming from Rockstar, stating that the studio is already planning what they’re going to do with the next game.

The most prominent rumors so far are talking about the potential setting of the new game – apparently, Rockstar are considering setting the game in either Vice City, or San Andreas. A return to familiar scenery would not be out of the question, and it would certainly make for an interesting game, if the same old places are given a second look through the eyes of new technology.

At the same time, it’s not known whether the game will take place in the same timeline as any other “GTA” games, even if it’s located in the same place. It could be that Rockstar decide to move the story forward or even back in time by a few years, in order to avoid any accidental plot holes created by crossing over the new story with the old ones.

Rumors have it that Rockstar are already hard at work on “GTA 6”, and the studio has actually split its development team into three parts in order to handle the workload more adequately. Two of those parts are focused on developing new content for “GTA 5”, while the third sub-team is entirely focused on the next installment. However, it’s not known if they’re doing any actual development work at this stage, or simply planning the future of the series. Given the small size of the alleged development team, the second option sounds more likely.

It’s also been suggested that the new game might take place in an entirely new setting, even a real-life one – a return to London has even been suggested. One of the very first games in the series was set in London, and it was arguably the most iconic entry in the beginning of the franchise, which could give Rockstar plenty of interesting opportunities for references in the new game. Plus, it’s also claimed that an old-styled theme is on the table, and Rockstar might want to set the game earlier than any other “GTA” released so far. Could the next “GTA” be more similar to the “Mafia” series than any of the previous games in its own franchise? Only time will tell, but it seems that Rockstar have some interesting things planned for the future of “Grand Theft Auto”.
