‘Rick and Morty’ Season 3 Shall Explore the Infinity of the Universe Within Rick’s Liver, Says Co-Showrunner!

Season 3 of the American adult animated TV series “Rick and Morty” is still months away from returning to Adult Swim but a recent interview with co-showrunners Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon already gave fans an idea of what to expect next.

Roiland, who lends voices to both Rick and Morty in the animated TV series, says that Season 2 of “Rick and Morty” was all about the price of knowing Rick and in the upcoming Season 3, the show will start to explore the infinity of the universe within Rick’s liver, notes the MNR Daily.

Harmon also said that part of the biggest challenge of the show’s third season is not to smother the characters of the TV series with some back story gimmicks such as why Rick drinks.

There have been some theories with regards to Rick’s frequent drinking and Morty’s true identity, but most of them are fan speculations.

There was one theory which claims that Rick might be drinking a liquid containing super seeds that have temporary intelligence-boosting properties. Rick is naturally intelligent but he needs to be smarter than other beings in his dimension, thus the constant drinking of super seeds disguised as an alcoholic drink in a flask.

A “Rick and Morty” card game

There have been plenty of things that are preoccupying fans of “Rick and Morty” while waiting for the airing of the Season 3 of the TV series.

Fans can now play “The Total Rickall Cooperative Card Game,” which is a “Rick and Morty” licensed game developed by Cryptozoic based on the Season 2 episode of the same title.

In the episode, false memories were implanted in Rick and the family members’ brains and introduced fan-favorite Mr. Poopybutthole.

The card game is playable by two to five players. It features two modes of play. In a normal mode, players work as a team to find parasites. In the advanced mode, players can have secret alliances with parasites.

A darker Season 3

It could be recalled that during the Season 2 finale of “Rick and Morty,” Rick sacrificed himself to save his family. He bid his grandson goodbye and surrendered to the intergalactic police while the Smith family was brought back to earth even as Rick was incarcerated in an intergalactic prison along with the universe’s worst criminals.

Dan Harmon disclosed that Season 3 of “Rick and Morty” will continue to get darker. But considering that it is a hilariously laugh-a-second animated TV series, it will be full of dark fun, noted some critics.

Harmon also said during the Magic City ComicCon that they are targeting the end of this year for the release of “Rick and Morty,” which was way better than the initial projected release of March 2017, notes the Christian Today.

Many are looking at a December premiere for Season 3 of ”Rick and Morty” but until the producers and showrunners make the final announcement, everything remains as speculation at this time.

Fans and critics alike believe that Rick will find a way or another to escape his intergalactic prison cell in the beginning of Season 3. There are rumors saying that it will be Morty to whom the surprising rescue will come from.

Incidentally, “Rick and Morty” got a major promotional boost this month with the release of the “Rick and Morty” Season 2 Blu-Ray and DVD on June 7, giving fans of the popular TV series an addition to their collection. More importantly, it also heightened their excitement for the upcoming Season 3.
