Mortal Kombat X Kombat Pack 3 Release Date Expected to Be Unveiled in July!

Fans of “Mortal Kombat X” have been waiting for official news about the next major set of DLC for the game, “Kombat Pack 3”, and while so far we haven’t seen anything of interest, it looks like things are about to change in about a month. Ed Boon recently teased that EVO 2016 could be a major event for those waiting for news about the game, and while he didn’t confirm exactly what the studio plans to show, there aren’t that many possibilities in the end.

Other than “Kombat Pack 3”, this could be about another DLC that hasn’t been announced yet, or perhaps about smaller sets of updates such as new characters, stages or gameplay changes. Of course, “Kombat Pack 3” should increase the roster of the game nicely, but that doesn’t stop the developers from introducing more characters as separate DLC packs.

There are certainly some holes to be filled in the game, as several fan-favorite characters haven’t been added yet. It’s expected that they will all make their way into the game via upcoming DLC releases, so those waiting for Sindel, Rain and the others shouldn’t really worry that much. NetherRealm know their fans and they wouldn’t disappoint so many people, plus they have a lot to gain from releasing those specific characters in terms of hype.

That could be the reason why we haven’t seen anything about Skarlet and the others, actually. The studio could very well be holding on to those characters for a more special release, hoping to gain more attention by timing the release just right.

For now, fans have turned their attention to EVO 2016, as it looks like the event will be worth watching. We just hope that the studio decide to give enough details about whatever they announce right off the bat, instead of teasing their fans and leaving them in the dark for a few days/weeks. This has been an increasingly common strategy in the gaming market lately for some reason, and most fans seem to find it annoying, looking at discussions on forums.

With regards to expectations, it looks like most fans are pretty much convinced that at least one of the characters to be included in an upcoming DLC won’t be from a previous “Mortal Kombat” game. This is a common trend in the series, and it’s not rare to see guest characters from other franchises making an appearance in one or more installments. It’s usually accepted very well by the community, especially when it features a character that ties in with the game’s theme in a good way, such as Jason Voorhees. And in the end, the possibilities are pretty much endless, especially looking at how actively many studios are making deals between themselves nowadays. Crossovers are a hot thing right now, and they’re not out of the question for the next DLC release for “Mortal Kombat X”.

Other than DLC announcements, fans seem interested in getting news about the competitive scene around the game at this year’s EVO. “Mortal Kombat” is one of the hottest franchises when it comes to competitive gaming, and NetherRealm have been rightly pushing this aspect of the game quite hard since its release. It makes sense that they would have something to say at the event, and it would certainly make many people happy.
