‘The Winds of Winter’ Author George R.R. Martin Amazed at the Writing Speed of Prolific Horror Writer Stephen King!

Critically-acclaimed book author George R.R. Martin has recently sat down and picked up a thing or two from prolific horror writer Stephen King in as far as speed writing is concerned.

Given the delay in the release of “The Winds of Winter,” the sixth book of his fantasy novel series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” Martin needed all the help and pep talk that he could get from someone like Stephen King to help him speed things up a bit.

The two bestselling authors were at the Kiva Theater in Albuquerque, New Mexico on June 16 where Martin interviewed King for his “End of Watch” book tour.

Basically, their conversation centered on their respective writing speeds. Martin asked King how come he writes so fast. Martin said that he could churn out only three chapters in six months whereas Stephen King can write three books in the same period of time, details the Christian Times.

King says that he writes almost every day and demands six pages a day from himself. George was so amazed by the daily output of Stephen and asked the author if he never gets constipated doing so.

Martin then said in jest that maybe he does not have any talent and should have been a plumber instead, much to the delight of the audience.

Major spoilers from ‘The Winds of Winter’

The rumors about the release date of “The Winds of Winter” are consistent in saying that it shall come out before Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” returns to HBO in April of next year.

It seems like it was intentional on the part of Martin and the showrunners to delay the release of “The Winds of Winter” as it shall provide plenty of spoilers for “Game of Thrones” that TV viewing would not be as exciting as it is now for the ongoing Season 6.

There have been reports going around about the possible plots in “The Winds of Winter” that shall finally answer a lot of the questions of the millions of fans of “A Song of Ice and Fire” and also give anti-climactic spoilers to “Game of Thrones.”

One of the latest rumored plots to make it online is the fact that the dragons of Daenerys shall eventually square off with the white walkers and the Night King and that eventually, all of her three dragons shall die in the process of defeating the supernatural enemies, notes iDigital Times.

In fact, according to leaks, archmaester Marwyn shall tell Daenerys in “The Winds of Winter” that her role is not to be a conqueror but a savior, which means that she will save the whole of Westeros from the white walkers and the Night King.

However, all these remain as speculation and that is what’s making both “Game of Thrones” and “The Winds of Winter” very popular among fans and book readers. There are just too many speculations to hype the show and the upcoming book that when “The Winds of Winter” is finally released soon, it shall immediately go on to become Martin’s latest bestseller, just like the first five books of his “A Song of Ice and Fire” fantasy novel series.

Highlighting the Greyjoys more

Since April, George Martin has been releasing excerpts from “The Winds of Winter.”

The Winds of Winter

In April, Martin released an excerpt of the book featuring Arianne Martell from Dorne. Then during the Balticon held on May 29, he shared another chapter that focuses on Aeron Greyjoy.

For fans of “Game of Thrones,” the Greyjoys are synonymous to the Iron Isles and the familiar character from the place is Theon, Yara, and their father Balon. However, it can be recalled that Balon Greyjoy was killed by his returning brother Euron Greyjoy who eventually laid claim as the rightful leader of the Iron Isles, even as Theon and Yara escaped an expected persecution during the fifth episode of Season 6 of “Game of Thrones.”
