‘Suits’ Season 6 Unlikely to be the Last for the Legal Drama Series, Says Showrunner!

Season 6 of the American legal drama TV series “Suits” is set to air on July 13 on the USA Network and some rumors are saying that it could possibly be the last for the popular show.

But showrunner Aaron Korsh was quick to douse cold water on such speculations when he said in a recent interview that he is highly doubtful that Season 6 would be the last for the show.

Apparently, the basis of the rumors is the fact that “Suits” has yet to be renewed for Season 7 which seems like some fans are getting way ahead of themselves especially in light of the fact that Season 6 has yet to return to the small screen.

While Korsh is confident that Season 6 of “Suits” is not going to be the show’s last, nobody knows for sure as the USA Network has yet to make its position felt about its popular legal drama TV series, notes Movie News Guide.

Korsh also revealed that “Suits” Season 6 has just been through filming its fourth episode and it is likely that when the show premieres on July 13, it would have at least completed its first half or a total of eight episodes.

A different Season 5 finale

Incidentally, actor Patrick J. Adams, who plays the role of Mike Ross in “Suits,” revealed that the production team was planning a different Season 5 finale than the one that was shown in March.

In the original script, Mike marries Rachel Zane, played by Meghan Markle, before he goes to prison. The actor disclosed that the decision to change the finale was made a day before filming the Season 5 finale.

He explained that the production team and cast members came to a decision to modify it because it would be too much for an episode. Accordingly, it would not be enough to pack it all in.

It can be recalled that Mike told Rachel that they will revisit again the idea of marriage once he gets out of prison after two years.

According to reports, the wedding between the two would not be happening because she will focus on growing professionally.

Season 6 trailer

Incidentally, the first official trailer for Season 6 of “Suits” has already been released by the USA Network and it showed Mike checking himself into prison.

It then proceeds to a series of flashbacks showing significant events of Mike’s life going backward in time, going as far back as showing his first meeting with Harvey and the decision he made which started the whole legal charade and fraud.

Fans and critics of “Suits” believe that the trailer is very meaningful because it validates the need for Mike to face the consequences of his past decisions and actions, no matter how long it has been.

Towards the end of the trailer, Mike finally realized the folly of his past and that he would be trading his expensive tailored suits for a prison uniform.

Early last month, the rumors about the possible plotline of Season 6 of “Suits” on the USA Network indicate that Rachel shall be finding a new love interest in the absence of Mike Ross.

As viewers of “Suits” know, Mike will begin serving his two-year prison sentence for fraud and it would be during his absence that Rachel will find a new love interest in the person of Professor Dunbar, to be played by actor Malcolm Gets. Dunbar is an ethics professor at Columbia Law.

Dunbar will also be crucial in developing Rachel’s legal skills and give her opportunities inside and outside the classroom.

Those opportunities would also mean that Dunbar and Rachel will be spending more time with one another so they shall be able to get to know each other more.

After the recent debacle with Mike, there is really a good chance that she will fall for Dunbar. The most interesting thing about this rumored plotline is how Mike would react to the situation if and when he finds out.
