Shippers of ‘Olicity’ were disappointed that Oliver Queen, played by Stephen Amell, and Felicity Smoak, played by Emily Bett Rickards, parted ways past the mid-point of Season 4 of the American superhero drama TV series “Arrow” on The CW.
Felicity decided to split with Oliver after discovering that Oliver kept something from her, particularly his son by another woman.
Fans were actually expecting that the pair would get back together again during or before the Season 4 finale but that did not happen.
It seems however that the reunion of Oliver and Felicity would happen in Season 5 based on the recent hint of actor Stephen Amell.
In a recent interview, Amell said that he still does not know what is going to happen in the TV series when it returns to the small screen in the fall of this year for its Season 5, but he really thinks and believes that Oliver and Felicity will begin the Season 5 together.
Amell said that he really felt that Felicity was relatively quick to walk away from the relationship with Oliver but she is a fictional character so she can do what she wants, details the Christian Times.
A new villain and possible four-way crossover
The “Arrow” star also confirmed during the interview that a new villain shall be introduced in Season 5 of “Arrow,” who would be loosely inspired by the drug kingpin Stringer Bell role played by Idris Elba on “The Wire.”
The villain has the name of Anton Church and is described as a ruthless crime lord who will be filling the void left by the defeated Damien Darhk, played by Neal McDonough, during the Season 4 finale.
Accordingly, Anton Church is an apex predator who cuts his way through the shadows by taking down the biggest threat first. Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is said to be the physical prototype for the Anton Church character.
Incidentally, from merely having crossovers with its two spin-off TV series in “The Flash” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” Season 5 of “Arrow” might get itself into a four-way crossover with three TV series.
The third is going to be “Supergirl” which shall be moving from CBS to The CW beginning with its second season.
The CW president Mark Pedowitz was reportedly quoted as saying in a recent interview that the annual crossover event for its superhero TV series this coming fall will be the biggest one ever.
Flashpoint Batman on ‘Arrow’
There have been reports that the first spin-off series of “Arrow,” “The Flash,” shall feature the Flashpoint storyline for its third season this coming fall.
Flashpoint was the comic book story of how Barry Allen raced back in time to stop the Reverse Flash from killing his mother. While he succeeded, when he returned back to his normal timeline, the earth was already on the brink of destruction.
In the new timeline, Aquaman and Wonder Woman are at war and they are taking the world down with them. The timeline has other changes such as Superman being locked away in a government facility, and Thomas Wayne is Batman instead of Bruce Wayne.
With that being said, some comic book critics are saying that Thomas Wayne as the Flashpoint Batman will be joining the cast of “Arrow” Season 5, cites Moviepilot.
The Flashpoint Batman is actually a mentally unstable vigilante who will kill criminals a lot more times than he would not.
Although this idea remains as speculation at this time, it would certainly give “Arrow” the needed shot in the arm to perk up its declining ratings. Flashpoint Batman is a character that fans love plus the fact that he loves and adds a very interesting dynamic for the Green Arrow character.
Season 5 of “Arrow” will take the show back to its roots in terms of the kind of villain that the Green Arrow would be dealing with.
