The iOS developers at Apple must be grinning from ear to ear these days. From months now, there is no official published jailbreak tool that has been made available for iOS 9.2 and up, which currently stands officially at iOS 9.3.2.
That is why it came as a surprise to many that when the American tech giant recently released the first beta of its iOS 9.3.3, a hacking team who calls themselves as GSMagic, immediately claimed that they have jailbroken the latest firmware update from Apple.
A closer review by critics and developers alike proved that the claim was another fake, similar to the statements coming from a lot of hacking groups or individuals lately that they have come up with the jailbreaking solution and tools to iOS 9.2 and later.
As it is, Chinese hacking teams at Pangu and TaiG are the known major players when it comes to the Apple iOS jailbreaking community but since March this year, they have been pretty quiet.
The loudest murmurs in the jailbreaking community these days come from Italian hacker Luca Tedesco who have shown proofs of jailbroken iPhones on iOS 9.2 and later.
In fact, moments after Apple released the beta 1 for iOS 9.3.3 recently, Tedesco demonstrated the first jailbreak for the firmware update. Recently, he also showed off an iOS 9.3.2 jailbreak on an iPhone.
While Tedesco has been quite proud of his iOS swashbuckling exploits online, he has never gone public to share his work with other iOS users which led others to believe that the guy has a very large ego at play or worst, his jailbreak exploits are not true at all, notes Valuewalk.
Having the last say on jailbreak
It seems that Apple is now having the last say on the art of jailbreaking, which some are saying to be dead already, especially in light of the fact that there is no current jailbreak solution available for iOS 9.2 and later, notes the Redmond Pie.
The outlet further noted that all of the current changes that are being made that affect those who likes jailbreaking their iOS devices actually come directly from Apple.
As if to thump its chest for finally getting the better of jailbreakers, Apple is now making it difficult for iOS 9.2.1 users and later to downgrade their devices because the American tech giant shall no longer digitally sign it. This means that iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch users who have taken on an iOS 9.3.2 will find it impossible to downgrade to iOS 9.3.1 or older.
It is clear that nothing positive has happened in the jailbreak world in the last few months. Instead of the usual solution that comes from Pangu or TaiG, the jailbreak community was instead given a few fake jailbreak claims or those who simply want to keep a possible jailbreak to themselves (read: Tedesco).
Keeping jailbreaking alive
Some critics believe that all these news about the supposed jailbreak claims and exploits are merely meant to keep jailbreaking alive, although it is clear from the looks of it that jailbreaking is now gasping for air and Apple seems to be going for the jugular.
Last month, when Apple released the iOS 9.3.2, Pangu and TaiG both claim that the new iOS can easily be jailbroken using both partial and full jailbreak methods.
Unlike before when both Pangu and TaiG publicly offer jailbreak tools including procedures on its respective website, what they are providing at the moment for the iOS jailbreak community are apps that could be used to jailbreak Apple devices running iOS 9.2 and up.
With Pangu, TaiG, and most in the iOS jailbreaking community scrambling to find ways and finally publish a jailbreaking tool or tools to show to the public, the ray of hope came from Luca Tedesco.
He has posted a video following the launch of the first iOS 9.3 beta in March that he has successfully jailbroken the system of an iOS 9.3 on an iPhone.
