The series finale of the American crime drama TV series “Castle” that was aired on ABC on May 16 had a happy ending when, after finally solving the LokSat case, the show time jumped to seven years and revealed a happy ending for Kate Beckett, played by Stana Katic, and Rick Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, and their children.
It has been widely speculated by both fans and critics of “Castle” that had the erstwhile shortened final Season 9 of the show pushed through as earlier announced by ABC, the Season 8 finale would have ended differently, notes Design & Trend.
It was actually showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley who confirmed that they filmed an alternate ending for “Castle” in the event that the TV series was renewed for another season.
Accordingly, the alternate ending would show Rick and the rest of his family and friends thinking that Kate Beckett is dead even though she really is not.
Does not like working with each other
There are rumors saying that Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic do not mind the cancellation of “Castle” for Season 9 because the two stars apparently do not want to work with each other anymore.
According to a source, Stana Katic would go in her dressing room and cry because Nathan Fillion has been nasty on her for a long time.
Another source also claimed that the two actors could not set aside their differences so the creators of “Castle” decided to have them attend couples counseling the way married couples do.
Upon learning of the rumors, the actress denied it saying that there is no truth in them. It is likely that there is no problem with the professional relationship of Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion and the key reason why “Castle” was canceled for Season 9 is because of the ballooning cost of keeping a show on the air as actor salaries keep on increasing.
Possible scenarios for Season 9
Assuming for the sake of argument that “Castle” was not canceled at all by ABC, there are actually three major possible scenarios that may happen in the Season 9 of the TV series.
It is possible that Kate Beckett will die since the actress who portrays her character shall no longer return for Season 9.
There is likely to be a new team at the Precinct 12 of the NYPD with the demise of Beckett. The existing team, composed of Castle, Hayley, Esposito, Ryan, and Alexis, shall possibly have new member additions as well.
With Beckett all dead and gone, it is possible that Rick Castle will find a new love interest in the hypothetical Season 9 of the TV series, notes Movie News Guide.
ABC has decided to retract its decision to renew “Castle” for Season 9 in light of the firestorm that it has created when it decided to let go of Stana Katic and Tamala Jones while giving one-year deals to Nathan Fillion, Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever, and other cast members.
With the change in its decision, it is possible that ABC would work out a compromise deal with the actors whom it gave one-year deals for the supposed one more season of “Castle.”
Days before the Season 8 finale of “Castle,” fans were excited to find out how Kate Beckett will bid her goodbye to the TV series which she has been a part of for its full length of eight years.
While it was understandable that the actress had some disappointments, a TV show is still a business above all which is what prevailed in her case and not what she or the fans want.
I am so very sadden about the closure of Castle I loved that show and I don’t know what to believe if they didn’t get along it is so sad because if that is the case they are both hell of actors to make the show so believing. And if it is about the money well then shame on the station for letting it get in the way of a fantastic show. No one person makes a show it takes a team or group of people to make it work and the group of actors and actresses that you had on that show made it work. It may have been Castle but just Nath would not have made the show it took them all and you all did a fantastic job to make the chemistry work.
