‘The Last of Us 2’ to Focus on Ellie’s Immunity as a Weapon to Treat the Infection!

Game developer Naughty Dog has shifted its focus on the development of the action-survival horror game “The Last of Us 2” now that its action-adventure third-person shooter video game “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” was already released on the PlayStation 4 just recently.

Most of the reports have been fairly consistent saying that “The Last of Us 2” shall have Ellie as the main protagonist of the game as Joel will be dead and gone.

As if to tease gamers that it is already working on “The Last of Us 2,” the game developer has actually included an Easter egg on “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” about the upcoming game including a poster in the epilogue that is very much like “The Last of Us.”

The Polaroids appear to be covering the full title but it is obvious that it is “The Last of Us.” There is also a tagline underneath that reads ‘American Daughters.’

The character on the poster looks a lot like Ellie but since he or she is wearing a gas-mask, that seems debatable as Ellie is immune to the infection. Some gamers are assuming that it is Ellie’s mother because of the word ‘daughters’ in the tagline.

According to reports, “The Last of Us 2” shall be revolving around Ellie and her immunity to the virus which can be used as a weapon to finally treat the infection.

Ellie’s immunity to the virus has kept her from being one of the people who got infected and from mutating into zombie-like creatures, notes Yibada.

More speculations about the game

Recently, Naughty Dog game designer Emilia Schatz posted a job call on her Twitter account which hinted of the current development of “The Last of Us 2,” details Crossmap.

The speculations are rife that the game could finally be released in 2018 although Naughty Dog has yet to confirm or deny the rumors.

There shall also be tremendous pressure on “The Last of Us 2” since its predecessor is a critically-acclaimed action-adventure survival horror game which generated positive reviews from both gamers and critics for its graphics, storytelling, characters, and gameplay.

Bruce Straley, one of the directors of “The Last of Us,” has reportedly brainstormed ideas for the title of the sequel and its plot, some of which have already made the rounds on the internet.

According to one of these plot speculations, Joel will be killed while Ellie will go on some kind of adventure and she will be all alone.

Nothing new from Naughty Dog

Incidentally, the poster in the epilogue of “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” also featured a ‘Dark Horse Comics’ logo at the bottom. It can be recalled that both Naughty Dog and Dark Horse Comics have previously partnered in some of their game undertakings.

Such kind of teases is nothing new especially if it comes from Naughty Dog, which is known in the gaming community for leaving Easter eggs and hints in its games.

Although Naughty Dog has not said anything official about the “The Last of Us 2,” critics are actually one with the notion that the game is now in development because they based it on the previous statement made by creative director Neil Druckmann.

the last of us

Back then, Druckmann said that by the time that “Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End” comes out, the development of “The Last of Us 2” will already be in progress.

There are also reports saying that the game’s official title is going to be “Days Gone” but Naughty Dog is not confirming or denying it until this time. There is still no word about the gameplay of “The Last of Us 2.”

  1. I think killing off Joel before the game starts would be a mistake. Ellie may be the better character, but Joel is still a great character, ad I think giving him an off screen death would anger a lot of fans
