Ubisoft have been rumored to have a few things planned for the upcoming PlayStation Experience event, but not much was known about the exact nature of their upcoming revelations. While some were speculating that fans might get to see some news about “Watch Dogs 2”, there weren’t any particular rumors about that – not until now, at least.
According to some alleged leaks from the company’s offices, “Watch Dogs 2” is planned for release in 2016 on all major platforms, and Ubisoft are planning to shed some light on the game’s future at the upcoming PlayStation Experience. In addition to that, there are plenty of rumors regarding the game’s potential contents, such as its setting, characters and story, but a lot of that should be taken with a grain of salt.
One rumor in particular that manages to stand out is a potential new protagonist for the game – according to people close to the development process, Ubisoft have already made up their minds about the new character, and this will be Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney from the first title. From what the rumors are claiming, the new protagonist will be much more developed as a character than Aiden from the original game.
This would make sense, as Aiden was one of the main points of criticism for “Watch Dogs”, which was otherwise received mostly warmly by critics. The character was described as dull and uninteresting, owing to his quietness and lack of any distinct background story. Now, it seems that Ubisoft are taking a very different approach, if the rumors are true – the new protagonist will have a much more interesting personality, and will contribute to the story in a more significant way than simply carrying out the player’s actions.
Additionally, telling the story through the eyes of a character from the original game opens up many interesting possibilities, compared to introducing an entirely new protagonist. The game could easily make references to the original story, even going as far as to link the two through missions and other similar sub-plots. On the other hand, rumors have it that the new “Watch Dogs” will take place in many different locations all over the world, so it’s hard to say how the developers would tie the two stories together, if they’re planning to do that.
The game is expected to hit all major platforms, including PC, when it comes out in June 2016 – and it’s apparently making some serious use of modern hardware, according to people allegedly involved in the development process. Ubisoft are known for taking graphical advancements in their games seriously, so this isn’t surprising.

Yeah they take graphical enhancements seriously until the console manufacturers get ubisoft to Nerf those abilities for the sake of PC/console continuity.
