Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Under AT&T Get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow Rather Belatedly!

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update has officially rolled out to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge in March this year so it is rather frustrating for users of the devices on the AT&T network that up until last week, the update has yet to come to their handsets.

But finally, the long wait is over as the Android 6.0 Marshmallow finally arrived on the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge under AT&T this week, making it the last of the big four American carriers to do so, reports Tech Times.

The frustration of Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge users are understandable considering the fact that Google has also officially greenlit the roll out of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow to the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge, among other mobile devices under AT&T also this week.

Given such situation, it would not be surprising if Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users under AT&T would only enjoy the Android 6.0 Marshmallow in a matter of minutes or hours before deciding to upgrade to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Making up for the delay

AT&T customers with Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge handsets have been extremely disappointed after seeing Sprint customers receive their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge Marshmallow upgrades in March before being followed by Verizon and T-Mobile customers sometime in April.

If it’s any consolation to AT&T Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge users, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates on their handsets came with new additions including UI tweaks throughout, new emoji, an updated Samsung browser, and Google Now on Tap, details The Verge.

The upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow also introduces video calling and removes Keeper, AT&T Live, and Facebook Messenger from the handset, which is also what Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow brings.

The update, which is about 1.5GB in size, also moved the AT&T Mail and YP Mobile apps to virtual preload so users can install them freely.

A welcome news for Galaxy S6 users

The Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has officially rolled out recently to the Samsung Galaxy S6, and other mobile devices of the Korean tech giant that were released last year.

As expected, the latest Google mobile operating system rolled out first in South Korea but it was eventually released to Samsung 2015 devices to the rest of the world shortly thereafter.

Apart from the Samsung Galaxy S6, other devices that have received the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update include the Galaxy S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge+, and the Galaxy Note 5.

Other than South Korea, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update has started rolling out in India, the United Kingdom, Austria, Russia, Iraq, the Netherlands, Afghanistan, Croatia, Germany, Czech Republic, Nigeria, Pakistan, Italy, Macedonia, Spain, and several other countries. The update also made it recently to North America with Sprint users receiving it ahead of the others.

For some reason, the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on Sprint Galaxy S6 is quite huge at 1GB and it brought forth a long list of enhancements as well as features and bug fixes.

Apart from Sprint, the latest Marshmallow update has also rolled out to Samsung Galaxy S6 users under Verizon and T-Mobile in the US.

The Marshmallow update has also started rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S6 and other 2015 mobile devices of the Korean tech giant in Canada.

The Marshmallow update on the Samsung Galaxy S6 brought changes to the smartphone’s interface as it replaces blue with white and changes the look of several app icons.

The coming of the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update was a welcome news for Samsung smartphone and device users because most of them have long waited for the latest version of the Google mobile OS.
