In the penultimate episode of the police procedural “Chicago PD” before the Season 3 finale, Sophia Bush’ Erin Lindsay and Jesse Lee Soffer’s Jay Halstead will have each other’s back as they investigate a case that’s guaranteed to traumatize everyone.
Cartermatt reports that the upcoming episode, entitled “She’s Got Us,” will open with the police being informed of shots fired at a family residence. When Lindsay and Halstead arrive at the scene, they will discover carnage.
Apparently, the entire family was massacred, except for one survivor — a little girl who is clearly in shock. As the sole survivor and witness to the grave incident, the girl will have to undergo evaluation with the doctors.
It turns out that the girl is the youngest of the family and when Lindsay spots her, she’s on the brink of a nervous breakdown. What’s worse is that when the officer finds her, she’s holding a knife that’s possibly the weapon that took the lives of her whole family.
Lindsay will personally bring her to Dr. Charles, played by guest star Oliver Platt, but they will soon find out that there is so much work to be done before they can put her on the stand to testify.
Jon Seda’s Antonio and Elias Koteas’ Olinsky also look into a pyramid scheme self-help group to look for potential suspects.
NBC already has released the promo and it shows the hospital in complete chaos and the nurses rush to ask Erin to come to the girl’s room.
The officer believes that the killer has come to finish the job, but when she cautiously scans the place, all she sees is the little girl holding a knife.
The clip ends with Lindsay trying to calm the girl down and trying to get her to lower her knife, but the girl just looks straight at her with a face devoid of emotion.
Ecumenical News states that the episode will highlight Bush character and the episode itself will highlight the aftermath of justice in a huge way.
Elsewhere, Amy Morton’s Platt will be doing her very best to convince Commander Crowley, played by guest star Barbara Ever Harris, to let Marina Squerciati’s Burgess and Brian Geraghty’s Roman remain work partners.
After the troubling affair in the court during the recent episode, the precinct is now in a difficult position with the higher ups.
Crowley’s option to out the fire that Burgess and Roman created is to keep them as far away from each other as possible, but Platt thinks that move will not help the situation.
Speaking to TV Line, Squerciati spills on her character’s ordeal during the last episode. She hinted that Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger, will soon know that she and Roman already slept together and his reaction will be intense.
As to whether Roman was just a rebound for Kim, the actress said it was unlikely, as what Burgess feels for Roman is the same emotion she once felt for her ex-fiancé.
Reports say that it might take time for Burgess to heal, physically, and emotionally. Hopefully, the season finale will shed some light on what she’s dealing with and how she’s handling it.
The season finale, entitled “Start Digging,” will air on May 25. NBC renewed the series for a fourth season.
Last week’s episode also served as the backdoor pilot for another spin-off of the One Chicago franchise, “Chicago Justice.”
Fans may remember that “Chicago PD” was also a spin-off of “Chicago Fire” and an episode of the show also served as a backdoor pilot.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that unlike previous spin-offs such as “Chicago Med,” there were no early introductions for the team members at the Cook’s Country State’s Attorney’s office.
