‘Battlefield 5’ to Give Other First-Person Shooter Video Games a Serious Run for the Gamers’ Money!

Game developer Digital Illusions Computer Entertainment (DICE) and publisher Electronic Arts have both confirmed that the latest iteration of its very popular “Battlefield” video game series, officially titled as “Battlefield 5,” will come out on the gaming consoles and the PC later this year.

While there is no specific date that has been announced yet for the official release of the game, the excitement that it is generating among gamers and fans can hardly be contained this early.

According to reports, if the game lives up to its hype, “Battlefield 5” is sure to give other first-person shooter video games in the market a serious run for the gamers’ money, particularly in the aspect of sales, reports News Every Day.

In fact, there are reports that Activision is now getting worried that the sales of its next “Call of Duty” game will be affected by the release of “Battlefield 5” later this year. The “Call of Duty” franchise is also one of the more renowned first-person shooter video games around.

Likely to reign in the FPS market

In a recent interview, Michael Pachter, a video game analyst with Wedbush Securities, predicts that “Battlefield 5” shall rule over the first-person shooter video games lot when it comes out later in 2016. He said that he is confident of his prediction because “Battlefield 5” shall have less overall competition when it gets released to the gaming consoles and the PC.

Unlike last year, when the first-person shooter video games market was a bit crowded with six releases including “Fallout 4,” “Halo 5: Guardians,” “Star Wars: Battlefront,” “Battlefield: Hardline,” “Assassin’s Creed Syndicate,” and “Call of Duty: Black Ops 3,” this year it will just be “Battlefield 5” and the next “Call of Duty” game. So it is going to be a toss-up with the victor emerging quite clearly thereafter.

Based on reports, “Battlefield 5” could possibly come out to the gaming consoles and the PC in October this year, which is usually the time when game developers release their new offerings in order to capitalize on the upcoming Holiday Season, particularly the Black Friday sales event late in November.

However, there are also rumors suggesting that “Battlefield” will officially come out on December 6. But these dates are mere speculations as of this time since both DICE and EA have yet to make any confirmation of the release date of “Battlefield 5.”

Working to improve the game’s engine

It seems that game developer DICE is also raising the graphics quality of “Battlefield 5” as latest reports have it that it is looking to employ someone who is familiar with the Frostbite engine, which is the set of tools that it is using for the development of the upcoming video game, reports Gaming Bolt.

Based on a recent job listing, the developer seems determined to improve its Frostbite engine’s LOD performance and image stability.

The listing also cited that the successful applicant shall work on a game team at DICE to plan, implement, and evaluate a system for computing optimal view distances for mesh LOD transition.

It also added that the work will be carried out on the Frostbite game engine and the goal is to accelerate the current workflow, to improve the image stability, and to get more optimal LOD distances from a performance perspective.

Battlefield 5

The upcoming entry in the first-person shooter video game franchise “Battlefield” is practically confirmed after a German retailer revealed the possible setting for “Battlefield 5.”

Retailer World of Games has posted on its website a German description of “Battlefield 5” as a multiplayer tactical shooter game set in World War 1 if translated into English.

The same video game retailer also disclosed that the game would come out on October 26 on the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC.
