The latest action camera from the American camcorder company, GoPro Hero 5, is now being rumored to come out in October this year.
For those who have been keeping track of the action camera since early 2015, about this time last year, the reports then were saying that GoPro Hero 5 will come out in October. But as everyone found out, October 2015 has already come and gone by and there was still no sight of the highly-anticipated action camera into the retail markets.
After October last year, the reports were mostly saying that it would come out early this year with March 2016 being the latest.
However, March 2016 has come and gone and there was still no sight of the GoPro Hero 5. Latest reports have it that the action camera would finally be released by GoPro in October this year.
Thus, the rumors about the release date of GoPro Hero 5 have already come full circle. It would be interesting to find out if the American camcorder company would finally live up to its promise this time as the action camera’s fans are already getting annoyed and agitated.
Long wait is about to come to an end
It was actually Nick Woodman, CEO of GoPro, who said in an interview last year that the GoPro Hero 5 will indeed come out this year. But he did not say exactly when would that be, notes News Every Day.
So while fans and enthusiasts are still waiting for the GoPro Hero 5, they can actually enjoy the GoPro Karma drone unveiled late last year and will hit the retail markets anytime soon or before June 2016.
The GoPro Karma drone shall be released first to be followed by the GoPro Hero 5 after some months. During the company’s fourth-quarter 2015 conference call, the first three versions in the Hero lineup will be discontinued beginning this month and the GoPro Hero 4 shall become the current flagship compatible with the upcoming drone.
Woodman said that the company is planning to maintain the current lineup that includes the Hero 4 Black, Silver, and Session before the Hero 5 eventually joins them later this year.
The GoPro CEO also explained that the company will release an entirely new video editing experience on the Hero 5 that shall enable users to make a strikingly good video edits in minutes.
The company has also come up with the GoPro awards program which incentivizes users to upload and share better GoPro videos on their social networks. The video editing on the Hero 5 would really make it easier.
Both the new camera and the software will come ready for the forthcoming cloud service, with GoPro’s desktop content management application slated for release ahead of October 2016.
Woodman explained that being connected for Hero 5 refers to simpler controls and tight integration with the mobile, desktop, and cloud tools which are a lot better than a boost in resolution or camera quality.
Learning its lesson on pricing and affordability
Reports also have it that GoPro will play it safe when it comes to pricing the Hero 5. Accordingly, its price will be in the range of $450 to $550.
Because of its inability to launch the GoPro Hero 5 last year as it promised, the income of the American camcorder company has significantly dropped. It also had to trim down the retail price of its Hero 4 from $399 to $199 in an attempt by the company to perk up the sales of its latest action camera.
Even the company’s share prices and stocks on the New York stock exchange have considerably dropped as a result of the non-release of the Hero 5 last year.
It seems that GoPro has learned its lesson in putting a more realistic and affordable pricing for its latest product offerings.
Based on reports that came out as early as late in 2014, GoPro Hero 5 will apparently have new features including its enhanced skill for the ability to record 8K videos.
