Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Finally Gets a Trailer, Fans Wondering about Dark Silhouette, And More

When Disney took over the “Star Wars” franchise, many fans were worried about the implications. There was a lot of skepticism all around, and a large part of the original fan base thought that the studio would mishandle the next films. However, the release of “Star Wars: Episode VII” was actually met with moderately good reviews (although there was of course no shortage of complaints from some fans), and now, Disney are also expanding the franchise in other directions. “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” is an interesting take on the intergalactic adventures with a more dramatic undertone.

And just now, we’ve seen the first trailer for the upcoming space opera, revealing many details but also raising questions about others. The trailer was received very well by “Star Wars” fans, who immediately jumped to discuss what they had just seen, and there were plenty of teasers to go around.

Many new characters will be joining the cast, and the story will revolve around a group of rebels trying to infiltrate the ranks of the Empire in order to get their hands on the plans for the Death Star. It’s not yet clear how this storyline will be tied to the events of the original films – or “Episode VII”, for that matter – but it should give us a glimpse at many details that were not revealed in previous films in the franchise.

For now, the story will focus on mostly unfamiliar characters, as it looks like the rebels – led by Mon Monthma – haven’t been directly involved in any of the previous storylines. Considering how central the whole Death Star plot was to the overall “Star Wars” franchise though, we expect to see many ties with the previous films.

Many fans were fond of the idea when it was first announced, and there is a lot of excitement all over fan forums. The “Star Wars” universe is huge, and we’ve only seen a tiny fraction it through the lenses of the first six original films. There have been various spin-offs and additional works – including animated films – that have added even more to the story, and Disney can realistically do even more for many years to come. There are many possible directions for the “Star Wars” saga to go in, and it wouldn’t be surprising if some new revelations cast a new light on events we’ve already seen in the past.

A mysterious hooded figure seen in the trailer has been the center of attention in some discussions on the Internet, as both fans and critics are wondering who that could be. The trailer implied that the figure was somehow connected to the Emperor, but until we see the actual reveal, all fans can do is speculate. Which, in all fairness, is probably exactly what Disney want of them right now. There is over half a year left before the film is ready for the big screen, so they have to find some way to keep the minds of their audience occupied.

In addition, some are focusing more on the contents of the tank that was shown by the dark figure, and not so much on the person him/herself. “Star Wars” lore has a special place for those tanks and there was a strong implication that something very important is contained within, but we will most likely have to wait for the actual release of the film to find out what that is.
