The second half of Season 3 of the American police procedural drama TV series “Chicago PD” on NBC has gone on an almost month-long hiatus and its 20th episode will air on April 27.
Episode 19 of “Chicago PD” was aired on March 30 and it allowed the fans of the show to get a good glimpse of the brewing love triangle among Sean Roman, played by Brian Geraghty, Adam Ruzek, played by Patrick John Flueger, and Kim Burgess, played by Marina Squerciati.
In the previous episode, Ruzek nearly raised hell for Roman’s extra closeness with his ex-fiancee Burgess. While Kim and Adam have broken off their engagement because the former realized that the latter has no plan of marrying her, he still feels hurt when his former fiancée starts getting a little too close with Sean, reports the Ecumenical News.
It is likely that the rising tension between Ruzek and Roman will once again be put to light in the upcoming episode 20 of “Chicago PD” to air on NBC on April 27.
But then again, as a police procedural drama TV series, such would just be a sidelight to the case-of-the-episode plotline that “Chicago PD” will have.
There is also the fan-favorite relationship between Detective Erin Lindsay, played by Sophia Bush, and Detective Jay Halstead, played by Jesse Lee Soffer. Since the start of Season 3 of “Chicago PD,” fans had been excited to see the sort or reunion between the former lovers.
Fans love nothing but a romantic reunion or rekindling of the relationship between Lindsay and Halstead and it seems that the two characters have started moving towards that direction. The showrunners apparently recognize that the relationship of ‘Linstead’ is an important juice of the main plot.
Critics believe that it is the journey of Lindsay and Halstead over time is what viewers are caring about and romance is just one component of that.
They are two of the most popular, if not the most popular, characters of “Chicago PD.” They do care about each other so much so that one is actually willing to put his or her life for the other just like what Erin did during the Season 3 premiere episode.
A blossoming relationship
Meanwhile, ever since Ruzek and Burgess broke up, they both feel awkward staying in the same room together. But it was Roman who comforted Burgess during her difficult times since they have been partners for so long.
The broken engagement is also not a secret in the Chicago PD precinct, in addition to the fact that Ruzek is also a close friend of Roman.
At first, Roman’s concern for Burgess was more like a big brother comforting his younger sister but eventually, feelings evolved out of it. It was actually Ruzek who noticed that feelings appear to be developing between his ex-fiancee and his friend that he decided to let it all out in the open during the 19th episode.
But Roman did not deny the accusations because he does find Burgess attractive and that he has already developed feelings for her.
Speculations are rife that it could be in episode 20 when Roman will finally confess his feelings for Burgess.
In a recent interview, actress Marina Squerciati said that her character and Roman have a real buddy relationship that seems to turn into something deeper. Although she says that she does not see it happening anytime soon but if indeed it is going to turn towards such direction, it could possibly come out over a couple of beers at Molly’s.
