‘The Blacklist’ Season 3 Episode 21 to Set the Stage for a Spinoff TV Series!

The marks of a good TV show are its high ratings and excellent viewership, popularity among critics and fans, and a spinoff series.

When a TV series has all those three main ingredients, it is already made. Those are the marks of the likes of “Breaking Bad,” ‘Arrow,” “The Walking Dead,” “Grey’s Anatomy” and “The Vampire Diaries” among a few others.

There will be a new inclusion in the elite list as reports have it that the American crime drama TV series “The Blacklist” on NBC shall soon have a spinoff show.

Apparently, it was a network decision because of the warm reception and critical acclaim that “The Blacklist” has been receiving through all of its three seasons on the air.

According to reports, NBC is planning a “The Blacklist” spinoff TV series which could possibly star Famke Janssen. The veteran Hollywood actress will make her debut in episode 21 of “The Blacklist” to air on May 5, reports the International Business Times.

Janssen shall reportedly take on the role of Susan ‘Scottie’ Halstead, which could possibly be the mother of Tom Keen, played by Ryan Eggold.

Subsequently, the spinoff TV series will air one week later or on May 12. In addition to Janssen, Edi Gathegi, who plays Mr. Solomon in “The Blacklist,” shall also make his way to the spinoff TV series according to reports. Mr. Solomon is a Cabal operative who is trying to hunt down Raymond ‘Red’ Reddington, played by James Spader, and kill him, cites Cartermatt.

Based on initial reports, Edi Gathegi has already signed a deal to co-star on the spinoff TV show.

And because Janssen’s character is to be his character’s mother, reports also have it that Ryan Eggold may likely become part of the brand new series and he and Janssen will team up the way Red and Liz Keen, played by Megan Boone, are doing in “The Blacklist.”

A popular TV series

“The Blacklist” is currently one of the most popular and widely followed TV shows on NBC. The series averages a 3.0 rating among adults 18 to 49 years old and it generates about 12 million viewers per episode.

Because of the success of “The Blacklist,” NBC has already renewed the show for a fourth season even before it wraps up its current third season.

The show is currently on a 42-day hiatus after its suspenseful episode 16 aired on NBC on February 25.

The break may have been caused by some programming glitch in the network and is no way triggering any speculation that NBC may already be contemplating of making Season 3 of “The Blacklist” as its last.

On the contrary, NBC has already greenlit the fourth season of “The Blacklist” as early as February so there is no reason at all to be worried that the hit show is on the chopping board. And besides, as one of the most popular and top-rating TV series on the small screen today, it would be foolhardy for NBC to even consider of pulling the plug on “The Blacklist.”

The mystery about the true relationship

Aside from its heart-pounding episode 16, titled “The Caretaker,” it also offered more hints towards uncovering the mystery between the true relationship of Red and Liz.

The Blacklist - Season 1

There was also drama thrown into the mix as Liz expressed her displeasure to Red for not telling her that her mother is still alive. On the other hand, Red continues to insist to Liz that she should not marry Tom, as the guy is a criminal who will never change his ways.

But Liz has already made up her mind. It also goes without saying that she would like to push through with her plan to marry Tom not only because she is currently pregnant with his child but because she wants to get even with Red for lying to her about her mother.
