‘Arrow’ Season 4 Breakup of Oliver and Felicity Only Meant to Create More Drama for the TV Series!

‘Olicity’ is no more in Season 4 of the American superhero drama TV series “Arrow” on The CW as Stephen Amell’s Oliver Queen and Emily Bett Rickards’ Felicity Smoak have called it quits after Felicity discovered all of Oliver’s lies.

With the breakup of Oliver and Felicity, the latter also bolted out of Team Arrow, leaving the crime-fighting group without a genius computer expert and tech support.

During the episode 17 of “Arrow,” titled “Broken Hearts,” that aired on March 30 on The CW, Oliver was shown taking his post-breakup frustrations on his training sessions even as his Team Arrow colleagues attempt to cushion the impact of the split on their leader, notes TV Line.

Oliver has already withdrawn from the mayoral race of Star City and not even his breakup with Felicity will convince him to reconsider his decision.

Moving on from the breakup

Felicity, on the other hand, is also trying to move on from the breakup with Oliver. Instead of feeling sorry for what happened to her relationship, she is now working to make her miracle implant accessible to the masses.

Unfortunately, it is not just the masses who are interested in her scientific breakthrough but also her nemesis from Central City, Brie Larvan, also known as the Bug-Eyed Bandit. It also did not help the cause of Felicity when Larvan figured out that Felicity is the hacker who sent her to prison.

In order to avenge her incarceration, Larvan eventually unleashes her robotic bees on Felicity putting her life in danger. That prompted her assistant Curtis to search the Green Arrow to ask for his help to protect Felicity.

When Curtis walks into the Arrow bunker, a grumpy Oliver met him but realizing that Team Arrow might need his computer expertise, he allowed Curtis to help out.

The Green Arrow was not able to help the cause of Felicity against the Bug-Eyed Bandit because the bees were also replicating inside of him. It was Curtis who helped him out when he unleashed a virus to exterminate the bees inside the Green Arrow’s system.

Meanwhile, Felicity defeated the bee-man by electrocuting him as Curtis hacks the buggers and also takes down Brie Larvan.

After defeating the episode’s villain, Felicity tells Thea that she no longer desires violence and explained that she became a member of Team Arrow because she wants to make a difference in the lives of others. She went on to say that she can do that by turning Palmer Tech into a major support team for Team Arrow.

Not going to last long

Critics believe that the separation of Oliver and Felicity on “Arrow” will not last long as the executive producers reportedly just wanted to put more drama on the current fourth season of the top-rating TV series.

Fans could not fault Felicity for breaking up with Oliver after she found out about their fake wedding.

However, critics think that it is a stupid move by the showrunners because they could have done better other than splitting ‘Olicity,’ notes Buddy TV.

Felicity also delivered a heart-wrenching statement during the breakup when he said that Oliver will always be struggling with reconciling the man he was on the island with the man he wants to become.

Arrow Season 4

The reason why critics were practically in unison in saying that the breakup of “Olicity” is bad for the show is because the Green Arrow has become a better person and superhero when he is with Felicity.

Miss Smoak found that spark of happiness and joy inside Oliver and fan it until it became a fire. It might be a weak fire but it is still burning. But Felicity breaking up with Oliver throws a huge bucket of water onto that weak fire.
