Reports about the next installment to the open world Western action-adventure video game franchise “Red Dead Redemption” has been at a high as of late especially when word got around that game developer Rockstar Games is planning to launch the game at the upcoming Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016.
While Rockstar did not confirm that it would be unveiling “Red Dead Redemption 2” at the E3 2016, its parent company Take-Two Interactive has previously stated that it is going to have a big presence at the Los Angeles event come June.
As it is, there is no game among the development companies under Take-Two Interactive that is as big as “Red Dead Redemption 2” so it is quite easy for both gamers and critics to rightfully assume that the highly-anticipated game is going to be the company’s main attraction at the event.
E3 is regarded as the biggest trade show in the gaming industry in the US and it has been packing in the crowds during its annual event.
Reports also have it that the sequel to “Red Dead Redemption” shall have the official title of “Red Dead Redemption 2: Legend of the West” and shall feature larger maps including the Mexican deserts and North American landscapes, notes the Parent Herald.
More importantly, the game promises to give gamers the opportunity to explore the sequel further for a more rewarding and engaging gaming experience.
After its likely launching in June, it is possible that Rockstar Games would officially release the game to the gaming consoles including the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 later this year, or early in 2017 at the latest.
The game is completed
With reports saying that Rockstar is now working on “GTA 6,” it is now certain that the development of “Red Dead Redemption 2” is already completed and the game development company is just putting the finishing touches and prepping the game for its eventual unveiling and official roll out to the video game retail markets, notes the Express of UK.
Rockstar would surely not allow its focus to be divided between the development of “GTA 6” and “Red Dead Redemption 2” assuming that both games are still in development.
It is one of the main characteristics of Rockstar not to focus on the quantity but more on the quality of its releases.
The game development company also aims for perfection which is the reason why its latest release, the “GTA 5” is regarded as the most successful video game in history following its launch on the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 in October 2013, and on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4 one year later.
A worthy permanent franchise
Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Rockstar Games, said in a previous interview, that “Red Dead Redemption” has the makings of a permanent franchise. A video game cannot be a franchise if it does not have a sequel so it was a direct hint from Zelnick that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is indeed on its way to being released to the PlayStation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC later this year.
Apart from their excitement and anticipation to “Red Dead Redemption 2,” some fans and gamers are hoping that the upcoming game shall have more quests and even stronger characters compared to its predecessor.
Rockstar succeeded in making each character of “Red Dead Redemption” remarkable despite having minor roles only.
But the developer also fell short when it was not able to do the same with the characters from the popular open world action-adventure video game “GTA 5.” Fans are hoping that Rockstar would not make the same mistake with “Red Dead Redemption 2.”
Fans and gamers of the highly-anticipated video game are in unison in saying that “Red Dead Redemption 2” is long overdue considering that the first game was released almost five years ago.
