GoPro has had plenty of issues over the last few years and many of them have drawn critisism from consumers and other industry experts. The company went public with a very large IPO that made the company a lot of money, however it failed to keep consumer confidence up after the IPO and the stock dropped like a rock. In the meantime, experts were calling for the company to make a new product or at least offer a GoPro drone.
Offering a new product would give current customers a reason to upgrade, however it would also have to appeal to new customers. Over the last few camera models, the price point has always been a major discussion among consumers that love the way the camera films action. Software to edit your videos has also been released by the company, but it is very basic and has video editing experts going away from it to edit their popular, action filled videos.
According to the news this week, it appears that GoPro might actually get to releasing a brand new model before the busy holiday shopping season is here. The GoPro Hero 5 is the model that, according to sources, should be in stores sometime in October of this year. The camera is not the only product that is rumored to be coming. The company is also reportedly working on the release of a GoPro drone called the Karma Drone.
Over the last couple of years, drones or quadcopters, have become very popular and if you have an action camera company that consumers are happy with releasing one seems like a great idea. The GoPro Hero 5 is expected later this year, but according to reports, consumers that want to fly around the sky can expect a new drone option as early as May. These are all rumors at this point and even with consumer electronics shows coming and going, GoPro was mostly absent at them. GoPro is trying to bring excitement back to its line of action cameras with a refreshed model, but without knowing the price or the specifications, the excitement will have to wait.
GoPro does a great job of providing consumers what they need to capture every single second of their action sports lives, but with new models the company would take away a feature seen on older models while adding a different feature to the new model. This has consumers confused and put that with a high end price tag and consumers are quickly looking for a China based knockoff model just to get the job done at an affordable price. Some specifications and features are the center of discussions online and according to them, the GoPro Hero 5 will have a new chipset and a 24-hour battery.
