‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ Now on Post-Production Phase; Disney Optimistic that Movie is Franchise’s Return to Form!

The fifth installment to the successful “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie franchise is now in post-production phase which gives Disney Pictures more than enough time to polish and work on perfecting it before its global release to theaters on May 26, 2017.

From an initial release date of July 7, 2017, Disney decided to push forward the showing on global cinemas of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” after the entertainment conglomerate moved the release date of “Star Wars Episode 8” from May 26 to December 15 also next year.

May 26 happens to be Memorial Day in the US. For almost 40 years, Memorial Day was the domain of the “Star Wars” franchise, playing host to the first six movies in the series.

When the seventh movie of the series “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” broke numerous box-office records with its December release all the way to becoming the third highest grossing movie of all time, Disney has decided to allow the franchise to jump ship to Christmas.

But Disney would not just let other production companies to take over the Memorial Day, so it decided to hand the release date to another movie franchise that could really use such a sweet release date.

Going back to its roots

Of all the four movies of the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, 2003’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl” was the most excellent film and Johnny Depp’s performance in it was a ton of fun.

When “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” was shown in 2006, the film was a little less fun and the actor’s performance was a little less fine.

Come 2007’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End,” the movie was already a total mess. It also did not help the franchise one bit when “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” became a complete nightmare.

Despite the drop in the quality of the franchise for every sequel, all the three film sequels still made money at the box-office for Disney.

According to movie critics, the franchise has obviously seen better days and a fresh blood in the Director’s chair maybe just what the doctor ordered for the film series.

With directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg now calling the shots on “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” it looks like the franchise is set to return to form, notes The Wrap.

Captain versus Captain

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will see Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp and Captain Salazar, played by Javier Bardem, going head to head.

Those in the know are aware that Javier Bardem is the Spanish husband of actress Penelope Cruz. He has played important roles before in movies like “Skyfall” as well as “Eat, Pray, Love.”

The synopsis of the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” film will see a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow finding the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates emerge led by his old nemesis, Captain Salazar, who just escaped from the Devil’s Triangle. Captain Salazar has set his sights on killing every pirate at sea, including Captain Jack.

The only way for Captain Jack Sparrow to survive the ordeal is to find the legendary Trident of Poseidon, described as a powerful artifact that gives its possessor complete control over the seas, details the Christian Post.

The bigger task for the post-production people is to make sure that “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” comes out better than its predecessor or as the producers wanted, be as good as any of the first two films.

The producers wanted to redirect the course of the fifth film after the last two movies of the franchise veered off course.
