‘Vikings’ Season 4 Episode 4 Seen to be Full of Blood as King Aelle Vows to Finish Off King Ragnar!

Episode 4 of Season 4 of the historical drama TV series “Vikings” that will air on March 24 on the History Channel will be full of blood, according to the show’s episode synopsis.

The show will feature the world celebrating Christmas but King Aelle of Northumbria has something else in his mind for celebrating the Yuletide. He will return to Wessex on Christmas and shall work on finally killing King Ragnar Lothbrok, played by Travis Fimmel, reports the Parent Herald.

In real-life historical events, King Ragnar Lothbrok died in a well full of poisonous snakes after King Aelle threw him there following his arrest in Northumbria.

In fact, the last statement from Ragnar would go something like ‘how the little pigs would grunt if they knew how the old boar suffers.’

Apparently, the little pigs were Ragnar’s sweet nothings for his sons, who shall succeed by taking revenge for the death of their father and starting a 14-year invasion of England.

Moving on without Ragnar

Executive producer Michael Hirst said that fans need not worry even if Season 4 shall mark the end for Ragnar Lothbrok as “Vikings” shall continue without him.

Hirst added that Season 4 of “Vikings” is to be its longest to date and will continue to run and run.

He explained that he has a huge hope that “Vikings” can continue beyond Ragnar as his sons, led by Bjorn Ironside, played by Alexander Ludwig, will continue to pick up the show’s storylines.

The showrunner said that he always anticipated continuing with Ragnar’s sons because many of them became as famous, if not more famous, than their father.

Reports have it that Bjorn Ironside will also be featured in the upcoming episode of “Vikings” and his life inside the frozen wilderness will be showcased. He will also be fiercely battling against a grizzly bear before fighting Earl Kalf’s people just to be able to survive.

A major fight

The promo teaser trailer for the upcoming fourth episode of “Vikings” also revealed a major fight between the Norse king and his second wife Aslaug, as she takes her son away from him while saying that Ragnar will not be able to make his son be like him, details the International Business Times of UK.

Hirst said that the main part of the whole fourth season of “Vikings” revolves around Bjorn who is basically learning to trust his instincts and that power corrupts people.

Meanwhile, Rollo who is still in France is likely to face his karma in the most humiliating way when his wife, the princess of Paris, will show him his real place in her life.

The second episode of “Vikings” Season 4 that aired on the History Channel on February 25 was able to successfully sustain the pace of its premiere episode that featured betrayal, tragedy, daring rescues, and bad but funny haircuts.

Everything that viewers of the hit show wanted the “Vikings” had it, further assuring fans that the fourth season of the most brutal Viking drama on television today will live up to fan expectations.

Episode 2 was undeniably a very good episode of “Vikings,” however, some critics feel that the show is trying to tell too many stories at once with the time that it is allotted to by History Channel.

“Vikings” has numerous plots and subplots and with a 42-minute time per episode, it seems packed to the brim and there is only so many plots and subplots that it can take in given such duration.

Despite its limited air time, “Vikings” is handling the storylines fairly deftly with some minor exceptions. The show has likewise evolved from its humble beginnings back in Season 1.

Vikings Season 4

There is no longer the simple Viking village and the small, petty, and deadly politics that cause Ragnar’s ascension to power. The storyline no longer focuses on the men from the North alone but also keeps tracks of other developments elsewhere including some English factions, and the intrigue of the French court which goes well beyond Rollo’s betrayal.

Over in Kattegat in Denmark, the first plotline centered on Bjorn Ironside as he tries to survive the harsh winter. He was fortunate to have found a log cabin eventually.
