Fans of “Attack on Titan” who are waiting for season 2 will probably have mixed feelings about the news that season 2 of the show is reportedly going to be delayed. On one hand, no fan ever enjoys hearing that they will have to wait longer for their favorite show, of course. On the other, the reason for the delay actually seems to make sense and it should improve the overall quality of the show if things work out according to the producers’ plans.
The issue, according to reports, is that releasing the show with an accelerated schedule would mean bringing it out before the next issue in the corresponding manga series is completed, and this could cause some issues in the long run.
So far, the stories of the two works have been more or less in sync. That’s the original goal of the producers of the show, and they’ve been sticking to this idea pretty well until now. If they don’t have access to the next entry in the manga series to work with, this will obviously create some problems for the crew as they would have to make up parts of the plot on the go. And whether or not fans will like these different developments is irrelevant if it deviates from the idea of keeping the show and the manga in sync.
With that in mind, 2016 might be a pretty uneventful year for fans of the TV show, but at least we will get some hints about what’s coming up once the manga is finished. It’s important to note that the producers are specifically waiting for the manga’s plot to move forward by four story arcs, so it could take a while until we see the continuation of the story. It’s not quite sure at the moment how long this will take exactly.
Looking at the responses of fans around forums can be a bit surprising, as there isn’t much negativity towards the news so far. Most seem to agree that it’s better to keep the show in line with its original design goals instead of compromising them for a quicker release. According to some, making the second season of the show as good as possible is actually critical for the franchise as a whole right now.
That’s because previous attempts at bringing the story to the screen ended up less successful than anticipated, and the reputation of the series ended up suffering as a result. The first season of the TV show left a pretty good impression on most fans, so there is a strong hope that season 2 will continue that trend and bring even more to the table. If it does, fans’ trust in the “Attack on Titan” brand should be restored over time, and we may even see more diverse releases in different forms of media in the future. But for now, production efforts are of course focused on the show and nothing else.
We’ve already seen similar incidents with other shows on television, as “Game of Thrones” suffered from a situation like that recently. The show is based on a famous book series by author George R. R. Martin, but due to delays in the release of his latest work, the show had to go through some troubling times. So far everything seems to be running smoothly though, and the producers have reportedly managed to resolve the outstanding issues with their series. In fact, a recently released trailer for the show’s sixth season left many with a very strong positive impression.
