While Samsung always delivers when it comes to their flagship devices, this time around, they might have given their competition a serious run for the money.
With its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S7, the South Korean tech giant might have finally learned its lesson from previous generations and got the right basics on the high-end smartphone.
The seventh-generation smartphone under the famed Galaxy S series are earning rave reviews for being smartly-designed and a living proof of being a close-to-perfect phone.
According to Gizmodo, one can easily confuse the Galaxy S7 with last year’s Galaxy S6 device given that both models carry the same size, colors, and shape.
Basically, the Galaxy S7 is a more refined version of the Galaxy S6. The only difference is that the Galaxy S7’s camera is more advanced making it bulkier than the Galaxy S6.
The latest flagship device packs a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1440 x 2560 resolution, a Snapdragon 820 processor, and 4GB of RAM.
Design-wise, reports say that the reflective finish, rounded glass, and the convex metal back of the device make it incredibly comfortable in the user’s grasp. The device also adapted the Galaxy Note 5’s curved glass back.
It contains 32GB of internal storage plus a microSD support for expansion. Samsung was smart enough to bring the microSD card slot back, this time around, after skipping it with the Galaxy S6.
The device is running on the latest operating system, the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and is IP68 certified – dust proof and water resistant. It is equipped with a 12-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front snapper.
Photo enthusiasts will be happy to know that Samsung has nailed its game when it comes to smartphone photography. The company has really caught up with Apple when it comes to mobile photography.
The latest flagship device keeps the quick camera opening feature introduced on the Galaxy S6. A whole lot of shooting modes have also been incorporated with the Galaxy S7 that will make users’ photo capturing experience one of the best.
Another impressive thing that the Galaxy S7 is able to achieve is that it is able to deliver a better version of TouchWiz.
As per PC Advisor, Samsung’s software reworking of Android has always been hampered by history and has been for a long time a laughing stock of Android user interfaces.
Last year, the Galaxy S6 took a huge step in wrestling towards the company’s tendency to bloat their UI with apps that just clunk the storage and the Galaxy S7 apparently continue to fight that dilemma.
Business Standard notes that the latest flagship device is currently winning in that area as the TouchWiz has evidently slimmed down and is more refined compared to the Galaxy S6.
However, the media outlet states that future models could see more improvement with TouchWiz.
The device also lacks the support for the USB Type-C port. In addition, the device would have been truly forward-thinking.
However, the phone’s compatibility with the Gear VR headset and a free Oculus that comes with it sort of pays for the shortcomings of the device. After all, the virtual reality feature is a first for the company.
Some reviews note that the round sides of the Galaxy S7 feel particularly like that of its rival, the iPhone. However, the Galaxy S7 Edge is somewhat different.
Reports note that the Galaxy S7 Edge is a device that’s not too small like the Galaxy S7 and not too big like last year’s Galaxy S6 Edge+ which measures 5.7 inches. The Galaxy S7 Edge comes in 5.5 inches screen, perfect as a handy high-end smartphone.
The Verge comments that the Galaxy S7 Edge has undergone a more drastic change compared to its predecessors, the Galaxy S6 Edge and the Galaxy S6 Edge+.
