Switched at Birth Season 5 Showrunner Discloses Titles of Show’s 100th Episode!

As much as fans of the American teen/family drama TV series “Switched at Birth” can hardly wait for the premiere of Season 5 on Freeform, series creator Lizzy Weiss also feels the same.

Since December 26 last year, Weiss has been posting on her Twitter account the front page of the script for every episode completed beginning with the first episode entitled “The Call.” It appears that the showrunner is posting the episode’s script immediately after she and the writers have gone over them.

On February 29, Weiss posted on her Twitter account the title of the seventh episode of Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” and it is to be “Memory (The Heart).” However, episode 7 happens to be the 100th episode of the popular TV series, which is why Weiss became a bit emotional in her post.

She tweeted that they have made 100 episodes of “Switched at Birth” and she is getting emotional already. She added that so much has happened for all of them since they started doing the TV series, details Enstarz.

The most ambitious episode

Back on February 10, Lizzy also tweeted that the fifth episode of “Switched at Birth” Season 5 is possibly one of their most ambitious and out-of-the-box episodes to date.

Weiss stated earlier that the same episode was the most difficult to put a title to, but she eventually came out later to announce on the social media site that the fifth episode of the upcoming fifth season shall have the title “Occupy Truth.”

Apparently, the episode will stick to the show’s goal of addressing social issues and it shall focus on campus racism.

The episode will begin with a student going to a costume party as Li’L Wayne. The black American students will get offended and take it as a form of racism. The same incident will cause the African-American group to protest.

In a recent interview, Weiss said that they are trying to present the issue and the viewpoints of both groups in the most accurate and honest way possible. Weiss also added that the topic is a sensitive one but such situations happen in real life, cites the Ecumenical News.

She refers to such incidents on campus as micro-aggressions which are small things on a daily basis that students of color experience and usually swallow.

Not a show stealer

Contrary to perceptions, the baby of Toby Kennish, played by Lucas Grabeel, and Lily Summers, played by Rachel Shenton, would not be stealing the show when Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” returns to Freeform in April.

But the infant would surely play a large role in terms of keeping the marriage of the two intact, reveals Lizzy Weiss.

The show will still be about teens Daphne, played by Katie Leclerc, and Bay, played by Vanessa Marano, as they return to Kansas from China after getting a call during the Season 4 finale asking them to come home.

In a recent interview, Weiss revealed that there will be a time jump when Season 5 of “Switched at Birth” returns to Freeform, the former ABC Family network, and it will feature what happened to Bay and Daphne during the past 10 months.

Weiss said that she and the show writers wanted to add a cliffhanger so that if the show was lucky enough to come back in the future, they have something to jump off to.

She added that it felt natural to jump the show a little bit and take the cast of characters into their future. She thinks that there are a lot of stuff that can be talked about and those questions would all be answered when the show returns in April.
