It is now becoming clear that the 2016 Ford Bronco and even its ‘offspring,’ the 2017 Ford Bronco, are merely fan wishful thinking as the latest reports and hints coming from Ford Motor Company is that the American carmaker will build the much-awaited SUV truck in 2020.
While the automaker has been uncharacteristically silent over the incessant reports on the 2016 Ford Bronco since April 2014, it seems that Ford is now being active in providing teasers and winking hints for the rumored 2020 Ford Bronco.
The rumors and reports about the 2016 Ford Bronco only prove that car enthusiasts the world over are almost dying to see what the 21st century Bronco would look like when it finally comes out of the market.
Meanwhile, talented fans over at Bronco6G.com has rendered multiple versions of a concept 2020 Ford Bronco that absolutely blow fans’ minds away as it nailed what they wanted to see in the two-door 4×4 road behemoth, notes Road and Track.
Tom, administrator of Bronco6G.com, said that they fused styling elements from the previous Bronco generations, the 2004 Ford Bronco concept, as well as modern Ford trucks and SUVs.
Thus, the classic round headlights and square inset front grille evolved from the 1st generation Bronco, which was also showcased in the retro-futuristic 2004 Bronco concept that was displayed at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan that year.
Tom added that their concept also features a modern body-on-frame next-generation Bronco that retains a tall, boxy, tough, no-frills design with a strong focus on utility and off-road capabilities.
He went on to say that they have fitted separate versions with different grilles, wheel fender shapes, varying ride heights, and cargo rack for some different looks, notes Digital Trends.
A sixth-generation SUV
The sixth-generation Bronco, which is why the site was named Bronco6G, would most likely be built at the American carmaker’s truck plant in Wayne, Michigan and that Ford is looking at the Jeep Wrangler as its closest competitor in the specialized truck segment.
Based on the concept, it is obvious that there is definitely some current Ford truck DNA in the design including the shape of the windshield, which resembles that of the F-150. However, the unadorned, slab-sided proportions and tidy, short-wheelbase layout is 100 percent Bronco.
The original Bronco of the 1960s had that timeless boxy look while the 90s version rocked high school parking lots during its time, but the reborn Bronco of 2020 will be an exciting 4 x 4 fantasy.
The 2004 concept did create quite a stir back then, and so did the highly-publicized but now appearing to be a mere advance teaser called the 2016 Ford Bronco as well as the 2017 Ford Bronco. However, the 2020 Ford Bronco has gotten motoring enthusiasts and Bronco fans overly excited about the redesigned truck.
However, they now want Ford to hire the masterminds behind the works of art and get to real work on the assembly line.
No Bronco coming out this year
While 2016 is just two months old, it is becoming clear that the 2016 Ford Bronco shall not come out this year.
There were reports last year that the 2016 Ford Bronco will finally be unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan early last month but the vehicle was a no-show.
It could be recalled that the last official sighting of the Bronco was way back in 2004 when a concept of the truck-like SUV was introduced also at the North American International Auto Show.
With no confirmation, announcement, or any form of statement coming from Ford Motor Company regarding the 2016 Ford Bronco, it seems clear at this point that the vehicle was just a product of a hoax or an inventive mind.
The other development that seems to insinuate that the 2016 Ford Bronco looks unlikely is the fact that some reports are referring to the vehicle as a 2017 Ford Bronco.
