Samsung have had their ups and downs with their Galaxy line of smartphones over the years. The company initially took the Android market by storm, as customers enjoyed the great balance between price and functionality that Galaxy phones offered. Several new releases later, the company was still going strong – however, recently they have been losing fans, as the Galaxy S5 has not been doing that well, according to reports.
Sales of the device were below the expected levels, and the company has been putting a lot of effort into the development of the Galaxy S6, according to reports. This makes sense, as the market for Android smartphones is evolving very rapidly, and many new entries have come into play, resulting in a loss of popularity for Samsung. The company has realized this, and are now gearing up for a very solid release with the Galaxy S6, if the rumors are true.
There are already some rumored leaks about the specifications of the device, and if those turn out to be true, it will be powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor and have 2 or 3 GB of RAM. It will also have a QuadHD display, a feature becoming more and more prominent in smartphones lately, and it will additionally run the latest edition of Android, 5.0 Lollipop.
The phone is also rumored to have a 5-megapixel front camera, along with the 16-megapixel one on the back. It’s interesting to note that a recently released device by Microsoft, the Lumia 730, also had a 5-megapixel front camera, which was advertised as its main selling feature, to the point where the phone was dubbed a “selfie phone”. Samsung might have liked the idea, if the rumors about the camera specifications of the Galaxy S6 are true.
Something else that has been circulating the Internet has been the rumor that Samsung are stepping up their production times, as the company is trying to keep up with a more rapidly evolving market. The Galaxy S6 might come out sooner than expected, although an exact release date hasn’t been given yet. It’s entirely possible that we might see the phone until the end of 2015 though, and in any case, it’s expected that Samsung will at least come out with some official information about it soon enough. It would be good to see the company going back to what made them good, and releasing another solid entry on the Android market, as they certainly have the potential to develop game-changing phones that set new trends. Combined with some powerful hardware and the latest Android, the new Galaxy could be one of the best Android offers.
