If you have not watched Fargo on the television in the last two years, then you are not really going to understand what this post is all about. On the other hand, if you are a fan of the popular, dark-comedy, crime, drama, then you are here to read about the upcoming season. Up to this point, the show has created a major following and in just twenty episodes has cemented itself as a must watch each week.
In July of 2014, FX renewed the show for the second season and that came on the air in October. It did not take too long for the network to renew Fargo for the third season, which is set to premiere in the spring of 2017. For the first season, the cast was not the same as it was for season two, which included Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons, Jean Smart and Ted Danson. According to reports from this week, only one of them is returning for season three.
If you remember the second season, you know just about how far back in time the show brought you to learn as much as you could about the Sioux Falls Massacre. When Fargo Season 3 starts, it will reportedly bring us back to the present day, or at least within a decade of today. Even though 2010 will seem like a very modern time during the show, it was still six years before actual, present time.
Just like most shows that have a nice, big following, the network does not want to reveal too many details about upcoming seasons just to be able to preserve the buzz that the fans are creating about it. There is one detail that was confirmed and even though fans are not likely to enjoy it, at least it is something. It might not be much of a surprise, but according to reports, only one character is expected to return for this season. That is a little different for season three since season two saw nobody return from season one.
Now it will just be a guess as to who is actually going to come back to the show as it could be anyone from season one, which Entertainment Weekly speculates. It could be Allison Tolman or Martin Freeman and even if it is revealed, in what type of role will they be? Could the one actor coming back do so in a cameo role? Or will they be back full time for the entire third season? That is a question that fans are wondering and is not likely to be answered any time soon. Charlie Gerhardt survived in season two, so it would not be too far fetched that he returns for the third season.
