Steam Lunar Sale Is Live, Threatening to Put Yet another Dent in Gamers’ Wallets!

Steam sales used to be a relatively rare and special occasion, one that Valve celebrated with a lot of hype and attention to their community. But in recent times, it looks more like the company is just looking for any reason to drop yet another sale on their fans, as we’ve been seeing one every few months on a regular basis. Not that gamers mind anyway, as this always gives them a good opportunity to fill gaps in their libraries and cross a few items off their wishlists.

Just now, the Steam Lunar Sale has gone live, giving gamers access to thousands of discounts across the board, with some very attractive deals in there. In addition, there are some special categories of deals such as games themed around swimming or racing, and it looks like Valve have tried to throw in something that would attract as many people as possible.

Among the more notable promotions, fans can get access to the brand new “Fallout 4” at a 33% discount, and the “X-Com” franchise has several attractive discounts as well, although none for the newest game in the series, “X-Com 2”. Considering the fact that the game just game out a day ago, that’s not so surprising, but fans who haven’t played the previous installments in the franchise now have the perfect opportunity to make up for that loss and get up to speed on the most recent developments.

The discount extends to “The Bureau”, the spin-off based on the franchise which took it to another perspective. The game was somewhat less successful than the main title but it was still relatively enjoyable according to most fans, so in the end it got some acceptable reviews from many. Those who want to see what the big deal was about in the beginning can now do that for just 20% of the original price.

Many small indie games have been discounted as well, including popular titles like “Don’t Starve” and its recent multiplayer expansion “Don’t Starve Together”. Valve’s own games are of course also on the list, with 80% discounts for many of them and other special deals thrown in. Even Activision have joined in the fun and are offering various discounts for the “Call of Duty” franchise, something which didn’t use to be that typical for them. The studio has caught up to speed with the trends in the market now though, and they definitely know how to attract the attention of players easily.

Even the latest “Black Ops 3” is offered with a pretty good discount, and considering the game got some moderately good reviews and was mostly praised for pushing the franchise forward in creative ways, that’s a deal that people definitely shouldn’t miss out on. Fans of the franchise who’ve been on the fence about moving forward into its newest installment now have the opportunity to get in at a much better price, and the game offers more than enough content to justify it too.

The sale will be valid for about a week, ending on February 12, and this includes most of the discounts across the entire event, so gamers will have plenty of time to make up their minds about what games they want to buy and which ones they are going to skip for the next sale. It’s always important to remember that many of these games might be offered at better deals the next time such a sale rolls around.
