Jackie Chan has added another major thing to his collection. The action star has purchased himself a brand new private executive jet.
The martial arts actor released a statement regarding his new luxury plane saying that he is beyond thrilled to receive the Legacy 500.
Embraer announced last February 1 that the brand ambassador is the first customer in China to take delivery of the state-of-the-art jet plane. According to the company’s catalog, the newest addition to their jet planes cost about 20 million dollars.
The Legacy 500 features fly-by-wire technology, Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics, and a six-foot flat-floor cabin for its eight passengers.
According to aopa.org, the company’s Embraer enhanced vision system with a heads-up display and enhanced vision help complete the technology package.
A pair of Honeywell HTF7500E engines power the jet to FL450 from runways as short as 4,084 feet and allows it to cruise at 433 knots.
Chan was Embraer’s first recipient of their Legacy 650 back in 2012, which opened the door for his official partnership with the Brazil-based aircraft manufacturer. The “Shanghai Noon” actor chose dragon theme-inspired design for his mini-aircraft.
The Chinese actor said that his Legacy 650 has brought him fantastic traveling experiences and great comfort and convenience. It also allowed the “Rush Hour” star to do more acting and his philanthropic works around the globe.
He was able to use his Legacy 650 as a tool for rescue and relief operations as well. He deployed the jet to shuttle between China and Los Angeles and has also volunteered the airplane to send food and water to disaster-stricken areas of China.
Guan Dongyuan, Embraer’s senior vice president and president of Embraer China released a statement saying that the new aircraft’s capabilities can help Jackie to balance his work schedule and his other interests.
The Civil Aviation Authority of China granted the Legacy 500’s validation type of certificate to Embraer in July 2015.
NextShark gave a glimpse of what the Legacy 500 looks like and judging by the photos, it definitely spells luxury and comfort.
According to the website, the jet can hold up to 12 people, but most customers equip their jets for only eight to make it more spacious.
It can be equipped with put-together beds, a bathroom in the back and a kitchen in the front. It’s literally like a home up in the air. Chan designed the Legacy 500 with a wood interior that really feels very relaxing in the eyes.
There are also two 19-inch HD monitors on the wall and up to nine personal displays at each set. It also comes with premium leather chairs stuffed with gadgets and controls perfect for everything the 61-year-old actor needs.
Almost everything in the jet can be controlled by hidden touch screen remotes. In addition, it’s packed with high-definition entertainment system, Wi-Fi, and can easily be set in accordance with the settings of an iPhone or iPad.
Even the pilots of the Legacy 500 gets the special treatment. The jet’s cockpit is equipped with a heads-up display and a joystick on their side for better maneuvering.
Another interesting feature of the Legacy 500 is that it can pressurize the cabin at an altitude of 6,000 feet. Commercial airlines usually pressurize their cabins at an altitude of 8,000 feet.
Meanwhile, “The Karate Kid” actor has three films lined up this year. The first one to be released is “Skiptrace” wherein he will be playing a detective along with Johnny Knoxville, who portrays an American gambler.
Reports say that his role in the upcoming film is one very similar to his role as Lee in one of his famous films, “Rush Hour” in which he starred along with Chris Tucker. The film has spawned two sequels and a huge following.
