Nowadays, Rockstar are primarily associated with one of their franchises – “GTA”. Even though the studio has made several successful releases under other brand names, it was without doubt this series that brought them to the peak of their popularity and solidified their position as one of the most prominent developers on the market. And to some of the studio’s fans, this has actually been a bit disappointing – there is a lot of attention focused on “GTA” at any point in time, but not so much for other franchises of the company, such as “Red Dead Redemption”.
It’s been a while since we last heard anything about the Western-themed shooter that so many gamers endearingly describe as “GTA with horses”, and even though fans have tried to poke around for information and to guess what the studio might be planning for the next entry in the franchise, so far this has been fruitless. We’ve gone for so long without any news of a sequel, that at this point most people are just assuming that the company has decided to focus on “GTA”, a franchise that is quite a bit more lucrative to them.
Still, others refused to believe that Rockstar would just abandon one of their more original products like that, and there are still some hopeful talks about “Red Dead Redemption 2” going around. And according to some more recent rumors, the patience of those fans might actually get rewarded. Apparently, Rockstar are already planning the official reveal of the game and they are aiming towards this year’s E3 to drop the news on their fans.
Obviously, a rumor like this is nothing minor for many fans of the first game, especially considering that we haven’t really heard anything about it in so long. Among some members of the community, speculation about the possible sequel never really died down, and it actually got even more exciting every time a new “GTA” game came up on the horizon, with players wondering if any of these new features would eventually make it into “Red Dead”.
One of the more unusual rumors about the upcoming sequel is that it could move the setting to another location – more specifically, Japan. It’s not hard to imagine why such a claim immediately struck the game’s fans as odd, considering that it’s always been set in the Wild West, and while a change of scenery could definitely work out in its favor, taking it all the way to Japan could be a bit too far.
Another rumor in this regard points towards the possibility of an even larger map than we saw in the first game, and that would definitely be a welcomed change nowadays. After all, a lot of time has passed since we saw another installment in the franchise, and modern technology makes it possible to do a lot more with an open-world game than what could be implemented in the past.
There are also various claims about the game’s story and gameplay already, including a rumor that we are going to see the three-protagonist idea from “GTA 5” continued here as well.
On the other hand, we have no details about how the three protagonists could be designed, and whether this game is going to expand on the idea even more; but this design decision was taken very well when it was first brought to the table, so it only makes sense for Rockstar to want to continue exploring it. There are lots of possibilities for details that could be added to make the situation even more interesting.
